I'm a newbie with a couple of basic startup questions. I plan to use this as a production server, so I'd like to change the blank MySQL password. Where do I need to make these changes so that phpMyAdmin will remain functional? I'd like to have everything autostart as a service, but I can't find any documentation to do this. Thanks in advance

Thank you for Uniform Server. I have many hundreds of .htm and .php documents in D:\aa_web_projects. If I place one of those documents into C:\Program Files\UniformServer\Uniform Server\diskw\www, it opens perfectly, but moving all of my web_projects documents there isn't feasible. I've had other WAMP installations that I didn't like nearly as much as Uniform Server 3.3, and my solution to the documents location problem was solved by HomeSite 5.5, in which I can enable server mapping. Usually, I would map from D:\aa_web_projects to http://localhost/, and when I would preview a PHP page I was working on, HomeSite would run it through my server to display it, so the P…

I'm running UniServer on my secondary rig, a 2.8C P4 with 2GB DDR333 and 2x 80GB HDDs. I want UniServer to completely start up with MySQL and everything. I made a shortcut to the Server_Start.bat file and tossed it into the Windows Start folder so it does run the moment the system boots up. That just supports PHP/HTML though. However, I want to make it so that MySQL also runs automagically. Can I create a bat file that will run a web browser and go to the URL (http://localhost/apanel/cgi-bin/en/rmysql.cgi) and then close the web browser? Is there anything more simple? Any ideas anyone? Will this link help me at all? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/164674 Edit- Neve…

I haven't used a server before , I've only downloaded from FTP webpages but I would like to try to earn some money from a hosted website whether I host it with Uniform Server or I pay for a website host . Hello there, I've been playing around with CMS Made Simple for the past few weeks using Xampp locally. Now I have heard about "The Uniform Server" which seems much lighter than Xampp. The only problem is that CMSMS is not running smoothly under The Uniform Server. The pages load painfully slow and very often the css of certain pages doesn't load. I'm only left with the unstyled html. This never happens with Xampp. I have migrated and tested lots of other packages under The Uniform Server (Wordpress, ActiveCollab) but CMS Made Simple is one of my main development systems and I need it to run smoothly. Is anyone out there running CMS Made Simple successfully under The …

Hello, Have been trying to install Uniform Server as a service using the "Service" plugin. Installation appears to be successful but I am unable to access the Control Panel after this installation. It appears I am suffering from the "Recursive Loop" problem. Have tried to install the recommended patch on a new install and also tried the combined patch of Recursive Loop fix and Scrolling Control Panel update. Neither has fixed which is why I believe I may not be performing the initial service installation correctly. Appreciate any advice or step by step instructions which could be offered. Thanks.

Hello there, I just stumbled upon US3.3 and it is very nice. I like the way it takes W: to overcome fixed paths problems. Also its a lot smaller then XAMPP and got everything I need. Congrats to the developers and the admins here. Here a few quick steps to make US3.3 work for german WinXP: 1. Make phpMyAdmin work on german Windows Download the files "german-utf-8.inc.php" and "german-iso-8859-1.inc.php" from here: German charset rar-ed and place them into "diskw\home\admin\www\phpMyAdmin\lang". 2. Auto-start mySQL To start mySQL automatically open the "start_server.bat" in a text editor. Around line ~27 remove the if-clause like that: BEFORE: IF "%2"=="mysql" s…

I have done a quick Goggle for this program it would appear you are not the only one with this problem. I would have downloaded the program to test but was faced with a German site so I was completely lost. Uni Server is working correctly because you were able to create the database. I scanned over one of the links and my instant reaction is they look wrong! http://localhost/phpglossar_0.8/phpglossar...p?menue_do=show I could be wrong but if there is nothing in the first phpglossar_0.8 folder other than the second (phpglossar_0.8 folder) then I think it has been installed incorrectely. If you could supply a download link I will give it a bash. I saw mentioned that…

Hi, I have read the Uniform Server Introduction and Installing Uniform Server, I done the steps described there, but my Uniform Server it not working. Problems: - if, I am opening an Explorer my letter W: is not there, for starting I used VBS file or BAT file - if I am looking in Task Manager, I think should be runing programs like Apache.exe, mysql.exe, but is none - when I am runing the Server_start.bat, will open a black window, and close it, no message (I suposse I should have a message like The server is working) - after I am running again the same file, will open a browser with the Uniform Server icon, but, when I am trying Apanel I get the message - The Server Ca…

Hi everybody, did somebody know where I can find some documentation (guide) regarding the installation process of Uniform Server. I am especially interested to do this on an USB-stick-memory. If somebody can help me with this I will be extremely graceful. Thanks in advance. LiT. PS: I tried to make an installation, everithing is look to be all right, but after opening the server and writing in browser http://localhost/wiki/config/index.php, I got the standard message, the page can not be displayed. So, I guess, I still nead that documentation (installation guide).

I have a development machine at home, and another at work. Both are set up the same - Apache2/MySQL running as services, with a localhost and several virtual hosts for my various projects. I'm trying to get Uniform Server running on a USB key drive. Eventually I'll install a copy of ActiveCollab on it, so I can carry my project management notes & files with me. My problem is that the services on the USB drive are conflicting with the existing services on my workstation(s). Is there a method I can use to run the Uniform Server versions along side my development servers?

I have installed my Uniform Server on my Windows XP Pro. The first time I installed it to use with Joomla, it worked great. Everything to perfection. I have started to develop the site with joomla and SUDENLY, out of nowhere I CANNOT start the Uniform Server anylonger. I click on the Disk Start.vbs, it prompts me to the drive to start, I select the default W and when I look at the drive in the Windows Explorer, it does NOT start the drive. I just creates an icon with a red interrogation mark and does not start anything on the W drive. It opens the W:\home\admin\www\redirect.html and says that cannot find the page. Of course it will not, since it did not start the w…

I downloaded the zip file and extracted it to a folder I made called "test server" on my C: drive. I get this message when I type in http://localhost in my web browser: So I'm headed to my "test server" folder to try and find these files and change what it tells me to, and then I notice that I've also now got a "Local Disk (W:)" under My Computer with the same exact folders/files that my "Test Server" folder has on the C: drive. So which one do I use here? I'm completely lost as to what is going on.

I never liked the new manager interface which forced me to scroll the page with up/down buttons. It was slow and tedious. Now I have finally made a small change to re-enable ordinary scrolling via mousewheel. In \diskw\home\admin\www\index.php <frameset cols="220,*" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0" border="0" borderwidth="0"> <frame src="navigation.php" name="navigation" scrolling="no" noresize="noresize" id="navigation" /> <frame src="start.php" name="content" scrolling="no" noresize="noresize" id="content" /> has been changed to <frameset cols="230,*" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0" border="0" borderwidth…

I've been running Uniform Server off a USB stick for several months now, and it's worked perfectly. However on 9/14 Windows released new updates, which were automatically installed to my Windows XP SP2. One of those updates crippled the server; whenever I try to run it, either from server_start.bat or from Disk Start.vbs, disk W (or whatever drive name) appears for a few moments in My Computer as a drive icon with a question mark, and then becomes inaccessible. I uninstalled all the updates installed on 9/14 one by one, and the problem did not resolve itself; however once I restarted, the server began running properly again. So for now, if people are having trouble …
