Uniform Server - Windows

Using Uniform Server 4.0 on XP Pro SP 1 I've stumble on this : First.... clickin' on some link on the admin page using IE Return this Second... When I create Virtual Host on my server, it did create on httpd.conf file and also create folder just fine. Not to mention host file on system32 folder perfectly....But when I tried to access it, my DocumentRoot for the newly created VirtualHost seem to be running on /www and not on the designated DocumentRoot. Even when I Restart Apache2 Service using the Admin page. Hey, I'm new here and have been trying to use uniform server on my computer but when I start apache, I get the uniform server page then it redirects and firefox says the that localhost/apanel has no data. I have skype on this computer and everytime I run it, i make sure skype is off etc. It assigns a harddrive letter but don't go let me do anything else. i'm running Vista home Premium with ESET business edition (anti virus/firewall) Please help me - Thanks!

Hello, Well I'll get down to the real deal on what I am trying to do! I wanted to setup a webpage that is a HTTPS page and NOT a http page. The reason why I am doing this is because I wanted to tunnel or used a proxy server where it is secure to the webpages. I am using a cell phone to surf the internet but my cell phone provider found out that I was getting the full access to the internet which they don't allow! I am only paying for WAP webpages but the way I found around this was going to webpages that where HTTPS and then I found website that where using a proxy server but as long as the web address started with HTTPS I can still surf the internet. Hi I am very impressed with Uniserver's compact size and portability but puzzled at how it apparently manages to fit all the different servers/components into such a lightweight package. For example... Apache 2.2.11 - 4.56 MB MySQL 5.0.77 - 56.1M PHP 5.2.8 - 10.1M ActivePerl 5.10 - 17.0MB TOTAL=87.7MB And yet the UniServer is only 8.78 MB in size. So what's missing?. I mean, everything works great and I recently test-ran 4 production sites off a static IP on a commercial account the other day and everything worked beyond my wildest expectations but are the servers/components provided (ie; apache, MySQL, Perl, PHP) "abreviated" versions and if not, how do you fit…

Hi, thanks for the Mona-4.0 release! Wrote a little blurb here about it. As usual, an uncanny fast "installation" with great performance. On my desktop it works like a charm. However, I have a very small laptop (an Asus Eee PC 4G running a trimmed XP Home) which doesn't have a harddrive, but solid-state 4GB SRAM instead, so I'm using an SD card as the "external" hard drive. Now, when I fire up UniServer from that SD card, it won't assign a drive letter... I tried the start_bat, the UniController... Nada. Any pointers to get my ultra-portable web server going on the road?

Hi, everybody, I have spent this las 2 days trying to find my way around the wiki and Uniserver and cannot find the links to the 3.6 version (It looks nice and useful to upgrade despite the overhead). It might be doing something wrong or it (the Apollo 2 version) has been taken out and we should wait for version 4? Sorry to bother with this so basic question. I find Uniserver a great software and use it in my classes (I am teach in a digital art pos-grad course). Kind regards. Gaston

Is there any miniserver with all features (Apache/PHP/mySQL) and no pre-installed scripts ready to put in USB drive that can run in paralel with other Apache? I didn't find it.

Hi - I am continuing my wordpress education using the wordpress mini server (thanks!) but I have run into the problem that when I try to upload an image in the wordpress admin the connection is lost - I get no error message with the flash uploader but lost connection is the message I get using the regular file upload. Also I should mention I have upgrade to WP 2.7 and so far everything else seems to be working - I went back to the original miniserver package with 2.6 and the wp upload does not work in that version either. any suggestions? is there some setting somewhere that I need to make??? thanks, Megan

Hi - I downloaded the wordpress mini server and was able to upgrade it to WP2.7 no problem - However when I went to change the permalink structure to custom /%postname%/ and submited the change suddenly I can't access the blog any more and get a HTTP 403 Forbidden. any idea what could be wrong ??? thanks, Megan

I'm running 3.5-Apollo and using the Apache server to start/manage ong-running local processes via proc_open() (up to 3600 seconds). But once I kick off 2 of these processes, my Apache server won't respond to any other requests - it just queues them up until one of the servers is free. Looking at the XP task manager, I only see 2 Apache.exe processes at any given time. Plus, my dual CPU usage is only around 25%. How do I start more servers to handle the other requests? I am Unable to run Uniform server 3.5 in Vista Home Premium. I disabled Skype No IIS is running I disconnected Internet and disabled Windows Firewall I either run UniController.exe or Server_Start.bat and same problem: Windows can not find the file: "\usr\local\mysql\bin\mysqld-opt.exe" Please help me, I have invested all day looking in your forum, doing things and no way to run the server. I have been using Uniform Server successfully for about one year. It's loaded on my Windows Vista laptop. It works perfectly. Recently, I had the need to install it on my Windows XP Pro system. I can't get it to start up. In the 'Server_Start.bat' line that brings up 'redirect.html', I see the the blue Uniform Server logo page perfectly. But after one second, when it tries to refresh with 'http://localhost/apanel', I get the '404' error that the page wasn't found. By modifying the 'Server_Start.bat' file so that it stops just after the 'redirect.html' line, I see that if I enter the URL 'http://localhost/apanel' into the browser, it can't find it. I was wondering if there would be a way to to pin down my connection problems yahoo say my site dose not exist when I use site explorer, when I try to add back links can never connect, I get a 500 error. If I type in my url into the address bar the site works if I access through google it works so I don't know what's going on. I have dyndns url I check the updating everything is ok. what I am here for is to find out if anyone has any idea of how I could pin down where the problem would lie, where I should start or any tools I could use. I've just downloaded the latest MiniServer and installed it. When I run the "server_start.bat" it uses drive W:\ That drive is already mapped to a shared network volume. (A Buffalo Terastation drive) This is on Win XP Pro with all the latest updates.

At this point I am not concerned about keeping others from the outside of work of view it. Hi everyone, I've was wondering if anyone had any ideas, my website pages load extremely slow, any idea.

Has anyone experienced a slow load time while using the Uniserver/tray in the newly updated Firefox? I tested it with IE 7 and it loads at perfectly normal pace. This has happened just after I updated to Firefox ver: 3.0.4 I am really regretting it and do not want IE. Thanks Peter
