Uniform Server - Windows

Okay, I downloaded 3.5 last week sometime, then put it on my usb drive on Tuesday. After remembering to disable IIS and also uninstall a previous apache server and Zend Studio, it FINALLY worked on Tuesday. Then, yesterday, tried starting it up again and it loads the bluish purple screen with the logo then does the redirect, however once it gets to the Apanel nothing but a blank white page. So I've been struggling yesterday and today trying to figure out whats going on to no avail. I'm running a Vista Ultimate machine (dunno if that would effect anything). Scenario is...I've installed Uniform Server and Simple Machines Forum (SMF) software with default settings, and all components work fine and fast from "localhost". SMF signon screen displays lightning fast on "localhost". When I try to signon to the installed SMF from a PC sitting next to the Uniform Server/SMF PC (both on the same hub), I get the msg "*** Request to ns1.broadbandsupport.net timed-out" appearing in the Apache error log. When this happens only the text of the SMF sigon screen is eventually displayed. Can you offer some insight why Apache is shooting out that msg? I'm keen to get Uniform Server up to do some dev for Textpattern... Install went fine, server starts, browser hits redirect page - then gives me the 403. I've tried all the common fixes listed at the UniCenter - even swapping listening ports but keep getting told i don't have access! I downloaded uniformserver3_5.exe and installed it to C:/uniformserver/ I have used this software for the last couple years and just now had to get a new computer... and it's not working. I run Disk_Start and it starts, takes me to the uniform page, then redirects me to what's supposed to be the admin panel, but it's just a plain white page. none of the files that are in my www folder all show up the same way too, just a blank white page. thanks for the help.

I am trying to create a small place for my clients to upload their images so I can print them. Right now, I'm using The Uniform Server and File Store Pro on Windows XP. Both installed and working great. http://www.mrcrepro.com/filestore USER: uniserver PASS: uniserver I would like to use Windows Explorer to print the images my clients upload, but the .jpg extensions are changed to .dat files. The only way to get to them as .jpg with the original file names is to download them through Internet Explorer. Is it possible for a client send a command to Uniform Server and have the server run a Windows program (I.E., MSWord) and return a response to the client that initiated the command? I will start by saying that I am a relative novice at the business of webservers. I have used Apache 2.2 with good success and have created two files. The first is an .HTML file that creates a form and the second file is a .PHP file that handles the form and returns a message to the sender. I have tested it on the Apache and it works as expected. Hello im trying to use US to develop applications off line. I have no trouble getting it started up and i can go through all of the links inside of the http://localhost/apanel/ my problem is say im trying to access http://localhost/dogbert/ ill get a 403 forbidden error. Any ideal how to fix this? It happens with anything other then http://localhost/apanel/. **EDIT** Sorry my bad i found the problem is the site needs to run a cron job. How do i set that up>

When i start up uniform server i get this error Error in hosts file: localhost:80 does not exist what im trying to do is set up a phproxy server now when i goto http://localhost/ its working ok so its working internally but i set up a no-ip with dyndns and im having trouble when i try the link i get The following error was encountered: * Read Timeout now i am guessing it has something to do with the localhost:80 does not exist any ideas what i need to do? I'd like to thank you guys for all of your hard work on Uniform server. Couple of minor woes though. Will there be any implementation to run apache and mysql as services in the future? Reason I ask is for example Hmail, it can't find Mysql so everytime the server reboots I have to start the server back up and even though there is a database for hmail I have to go through the database setup over and over again.

Hi, I installed the uniform server to Windows Home Edition. When I press the Server_Start ms-dos bat-file my Windows XP firewall asks: "Do you want to keep blocking this program? Name: mysqld-opt" and also same for the "Apache HTTP Server". I guess I should unblock them but I just ask this here for to be sure. So do I unblock them? Thanks for help. - T -

Hello, I got a REALLY annoying bug ! I went into standby with my laptop and after opening it up uniform server was not working anymore. Also I can't get rid of drive w ! I rebootet clean and the drive is still there. I can't stop it with stop.bat or UniCOntroller. Also when I try to "start.bat y" the program responds "Uniform server running on y:" -> but there is no drive Y and the server is not working too. Help ! How to get rid of w ?

I took me 20 minutes after installation to figure out that to start the server you must click on "UniController.exe" ...really Now it's up, but i don't get it? Am I supposed to copy all my files to this phantom "w"drive every time I start up the server? how do I make it point to my existing files? And i don even know what I am going to do when it comes time to configure MYSQL...I already have a MySQL database..how am I going to hook THAT up. I've got a web app I want to work with, but I haven't "compiled" anything before. I have successfully installed Uniform Server 3.5 on a Windows XP computer. My purpose in using it is to test and design a site to be later uploaded to a web host. Actually this site is already working on a webhost but I want to work on it locally. Unifrom Server will not be a live server. This is all new to me and I have a lot of gaps in my knowledge so please be patient. I have put all of my website files in the www folder. Hi, I have been using uniservr for several weeks now and it has been working very nicely as a application development webserver. Recently I decided to add my critical files to my nightly backup procedure and found that my MySQL data cannot be backed up properly while the process if running. Luckily my backup software allows for pre/post command options to help shutdown and restart applications under such conditions. The problem is every time I run the command Stop.bat, whenever the back is completed, it hangs on the Server_Start.bat command every single time. Basically I want to use uniform server as a testing site for changes which I am able to do now perfectly and also have it work as a backup server if my regular server should crash. I need to know how to set virtual server so that in case of emergency and I point the dns to my local computer it resolves to www.uslister.com when the directory is now http://localhost/joomla/. I am runing 3.5 on my local host for development and wish to include a program that requires ironcube and the test for its support fails so my question is, does uniform server support the dynamic loading at run-time of PHP extensions? One of my hosting services does and one doesn't but it would be good if it would work in my development evironment.
