Hi First, I'd like to say that I've been using the Mona 4.0 release of the Uniform Server for several months and it has run flawlessly and I am very happy with it . Secondly, today I just noticed that a new version of the server has been released (Mona 4.1). I was just wondering if someone here could tell me (step-by-step) how to upgrade to the latest version without losing everything. I currently have 6 sites, 10 MySQL databases, a slightly customized http.conf file and extra modules/libraries/extensions. EDIT: Actually, even just some basic upgrade instructions would be very helpful and appreciated (ie; I can take care of the other things). Thanks so much!, Jay

  3. I have been reading a few posts mentioned about transferring their tested site to another live server. But for me, I would prefer using my own HP ML110 with Windows Server 2003 R2, hosting live right under my desk. However, I'm a bit lost technically when come to this. In overall, this Uniform Server will be hosting probably 3 services: 1. a family Forum 2. a small webmail 3. an e-commerce site! (for case study & tutorial use) What are the criteria to make a Uniform Server go live? - Allowing external access in .htaccess - a good DSL connection (well, I believe that doesn't really matter, as it is for family use) Hmm, what else? Let's see... - How about the se…

  4. Hi there, My Uniform server (4.1) won't start... When I click UniController.exe, it says that port 80 is unavailable which is weird because I don't see what could be using it... Besides, when I launch Server_Start.bat it says that all the needed ports are free but the Uniform Server can't create the virtual drive, here is the detail of what happens in the console: Skiped SSL port check - not enabled Port 80 is free - OK to run Apache server Port 443 is free - OK to run Secure Apache server Port 3306 is free - OK to run MySQL server The server will use virtual disk Z To run Apanel use http/127.0.0.1/apanel/ OR To run Apanel use http/localhost/apanel/ Starti…

Hi All, I've just transferred from xampp to uniserver 4.0. All is good except when I tried to enable innodb things started to go pear shaped!!! I read that there should be a file called my-small but it doesn't exist. I found the my.cnf file where I was able to uncomment the innodb bits but when I restarted unisever i was denied access to mysql. Any hints as to how to enable innodb would be a great help.

I have been using Uniform Server on my regular system since v4.0 was released. I have been using the basic install on an external HDD starting it manually with Unicontroller. This week I picked up a system to use as a dedicated server. Looking for some recommendations on installation type and automatic starting methods. Thank You, Denis LeBlanc

Wondered why the character encoding isn't being picked up right. I have doc types declared UTF-8 but they show up as ISO-8859-1. They're right online and on another WAMP server I run. I've tried several changes to various .ini (php, apache) files, but can't get it to work.

I have been developing web applications for a while, and more recently HTA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML_Application) applications (delivering client/server apps running on the desktop rather than the web). UniServer is a nice clean structure for doing just that. I have several uses for my UniServer tools. 1) I like to do most of my checkout of the web programs offline, and I like to have the exact HTML and programs in checkout that I will use online. Nothing like screwing up a CC gateway connection to make a client unhappy. So for this purpose, I modify my 'hosts' file, do the Virtual Hosts in Apache .conf file, and everything is fine. I came across your descrip…

  14. I have been running a company website using Uniform Server on a Dell Machine with Windows XP for about a month. Our business is starting to run low on our computer stock and it is not in the budget to but new pcs until next year, thus I decided to give up my machine to use on our call floor. I had the network admin make me a VM to run it on. On this VM when I start the server I get the splash screen for the Uniform Server admin page, and then a page cannot be found error. On any other machine it pulls the apanel up just fine. Has anyone else had any experience using Uniform Server on a Server 2003 VM? Any suggestions? Any help would be quite appreciated.

  15. Hi, I want to run an offline copy of a website with a large database(200+ MB) from CD/DVD. I came across uniserver while looking for a solution. I have looked at the run from CD Oily Rag, but I don't want to copy the database across since there will be no writing to it by the end user. Will Uniserver do this? And if so, what additional changes will I need to make to enable me to do this? Any help appreciated

SOLVED! use the "download" menu option ;on Sourceforge rather than the link from Unicenter... Duh! Sourceforge has a date of 2/14/2009 on ver. 4.0, Where can I find ver. 4.1 for download? Also why is the zip version twice the size of the .exe version, I'd think it should be the other way around... Thanks

So I'm trying to set up some kind of cron job-like system for me to run a few scripts I need to run regularly, but of course since PHP isn't actually installed, I can't just reference it in a scheduled task. I'm wondering what the best way to get around that is? I don't want to launch a browser every time (this will be running every minute or so)

  21. New to this and must say so far it has much possiblities, good stuff.. Now that said I am using 4.0 on a flash drive. Problem is that it works to start the servers on Vista, then on XP it doesn't. Did install it on XP and it works. Took another flash drive and installed it of XP and all is wonderful. Took that flash drive to Vista, okay works. Then when I went back to XP it doesn't work. I really want a transportable server, especailly since my first attempt and getting to it externally didn't work, but that is for another day. Look but haven't really found anything to give me an idea of which direction to go. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can pro…

  22. Just a quick heads up if anyone else has issues with generating the SSL certificate. I was having a lot of trouble trying to generate an SSL cert using the batch file, turns out that openssl.exe would not run, after searching around it sounds like it needs the VC++ Redistributable installed on your computer before it will run properly. I installed this and it worked perfectly. Not sure if you need it installed on other pc's once you have generated the certificate though... haven't tested.

Hi. I'm a total newb with Uniform Server, but I'd like to set it up and load my Joomla! site into it so I can do presentations of the site from my laptop in places where I have no internet connection. I've followed Joomadesk's tutorial's instructions for installation, but now I'm at a point where the tutorial doesn't match what's actually happening on the screen. Here's what I've done: 1) Downloaded 4.0 zip, extracted to a file on my desktop. 2) Started the server by clicking on Server_Start 3) Clicked on "run MySQL". It was already running. 4) Clicked on "phpMyAdmin" 5) Created a database, named it "demo" At this point, the tutorial is asking me to set user prive…

  24. I spent the better part of 5 hours wrestling with Windows Vista, finally beating it into submission to allow Uniform Server to run. I am using Uniform Server 3.5 My issue was that Start_Server would appear to be successful, mounting the W:\ drive and launching the redirect.html page. However, by the time it redirected, the W:\ drive would have unmounted and left me scratching my head. I followed the suggestions on the problems wiki page to try: netstat -ano | find "LISTENING" | find "80" my result? TCP 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 4 TCP [::]:80 [::]:0 LISTENING 4 I tried the running process lookup suggested for XP, but Vista did n…

But when installing sugar it doesn't see the curl module. Also, how can I get the IMAP Module to work for sugar. Thanks!
