Uniform Server - Windows

the server used to work fine, suddenly (i must have messed something) it does not work, i used to run 3.3..when the w did not start, i downloaded 3.4, stopped firewall and antivirus failed to run also

Just tried to install 3.4 in Vista, and it looks like it's not mapping udrive properly. I tried to modify the batch file, but I'm not expert on DOS scripting. Also tried to manually map udrive as a network drive to W:, but it clashed with the script. Has anyone gotten this to work on Vista? Any thoughts?

I've just installed uni3.3 over apache 2.2.2 It runs for awhile but it regurlarly hangs I used to have this problem with apache 2.2.2 because of the anti-virus Kaspersky but got resolved Could uni3.3 have an incompatibility with Kaspersky? I try to stop it uging the provided Stop.bat but it doesn't I even tried to kill apache.exe using the Task Manager won't work either... I am unable to use rserver.cgi from localhost/apanel because I am unable to access the apanel when it hangs like this... The only solution I have found so far is to reboot or logoff/logon... I am trying to load the Uniform Server on windows XP Pro, I have disabled the firewall and antivirus and even still the following happens. I extract the files, run the Server_start.bat the command prompt pops up momentarily, then the localhost/apanel flashes for a second with the Uniform Server logo and then I get page cannot be found. I checked the services and Apache isn't running nor does it map the W drive. So i'm not quite sure what's going on, I checked a few other posts and checked for the specific libmysql.dll file but can't find it in C:/windows or windows/system32 Anyone have any ideas? There was another thread listing your first impressions, so I decided to make another thread about your problems. Post anything and everything! My first complaint is phpMyAdmin. If I go to the security console in the admin page and change the root password, then try going to phpMyAdmin it says I am unable to connect because there is a problem with the password. 3.4 Sluger First impressions What an excellent piece of kit, yep you have taken onboard all the problems as noted on this forum. My very quick tests confirm you have addressed and resolved some real irritations that were evident in 3.3 that was no slug either and was excellent. I have started to hammer 3.4-sluger and for my sins update UniCenter at the same time. Sluger at the moment just feels right. I like UniController a bit slow to start up but hey its still in beta. This is fantastic work! However - I did bump into a few problems when running it. First - I have eagerly awaited this release since it advertised win98 compatibility. Unfortunately no luck. I get an error declaring it can't find redirect.html. The W:\ disk is created but the server is not running. Disabling the firewall does not help. Ok I am pretty new to all this server stuff. As of right now I am hosting my own website. Using Uniform Server I want to runt a script. But everytime I have a .htaccess file in my WWW directory it says access forbidden. Im planning on hosting my other site which is a social networking site simular to myspace. Short urls etc what file do I need to edit to make it where I can have short urls LEO etc All that.? I also use dragonfly CMS there is an option to make it instead of index.phpact=fourms or some crap I can turn it on to where the link is fourms.html but it says Not found because server settings or something. Okay, I load up Server_start.bat, but when my browser loads up the apanel--all I get is a blank page... Any idea? =P

Hi All, Just new to this web type develoment thing. Have used an older version of uni server without issues before, however with 3.3 running on vista I have a slight problem Run disk start select W opens up ie and at the bottom it keeps going "connecting to localhost" and then if i wait a bit , takes me to the apanel directory. Is this normal behaviour? Had a quick look around on the forums and couldnt see anything that helps. Apache has been unblocked from windows firewall so Im at a loss. Cheers Mark

I have installed 3.3 on Vista. When I start the server the favicon icon displays and then fails to connect to the localhost. If i type in the a_panel location it finds it and all is well. The reason I mention this is I have had problems installing moodle where after the second installation page just a blank page is shown. How can I establish that it is not 3.3 a first step in sorting this out? Thanks

Hi there, Boy, I thought this would be easy, but unfortunately, it is quite frustrating. I downloaded the latest version of US (3.3) on a Windows 2000 system, unzipped it to my USB stick (drive I:) and ran the Server_Start.bat. Firefox opens to file "file:///W:/home/admin/www/redirect.html", I can see what appears to be a half loaded page with a purple background and "THE UNIFORM SERVER" logo at the top. The page is constantly looping, ie. the browser can't seem to finish loading it. The browser throbber is constantly in motion, the status bar rapidly flip-flops between 'Waiting for localhost' and 'Stopped'. The apache error.log file shows multiple instan…

I start the server through the bat file and it all starts fine and the processes are running, but when it pops up in the browser, my choice is firefox, it just says 'Problem loading page' and in IE it just directs to an MS search thing. I did notice in FF when its trying to redirect it trys to connect to www.localhost.com, why would it do that? It has started doing all this randomly and I dont know why, how can i fix this problem?

I've been using US for a couple of years now and never had any problems. I just use it for local testing with minimal modification of US default's httpd.conf and php.ini files Yesterday I started having this problem: After refreshing a page several times the server hangs. I'd presume that the problem is mySql related since it seems to happen only on pages that query the db. Apache and mySql processes still show in tasks. Using stop.bat works but a few times I had to manually end the mySql process. Then, start server and mySql and it's all the same again. I am trying to start Uniformserver and i click the vbs, choose a valid drive. It then asks if i want to start mysql i choose yes then absolutely nothing happens. I do notice that a hidden cmd.exe process gets created. I do not have apache or mysql installed. I changed the http.conf to use a port other than 80 as I have IIS running. Ideas?

Downloaded the 3.3 version, but saw it didnt worked, just check the forums. sql database update is needed, some more obvious apache security settings not done, etc. Finally I have my turnkey solution worked out, a 3.3 or may I call it a 3.3/5, thanks to the great guys and knowledge in the forums. Its become a 14 mb zip file, and looking for a way to share it with you. Any suggestions? I can put it on my own ftp server, but am a bit reluctant to attract possible hackers and such. Johan

Please somebody help me. If I will click the Server_Start, the browser will open but will prompt me Secure Login. I already use the login:admin password:userver, admin:root password: root and login:admin password: root. but no success. I just wondering if I really have to login because I already used the Uniform Server at my PC at home, there is no Login required. It will just open the main page after clicking the Server_Start.

I cannot use rotaletelogs. Path to executable file is OK Path to log file is OK Server starts but cannot write into the log. It turned out the uniserver at runtime changes the attributes (read-only) for /usr/local/apache2/logs folder. Stop the server, clear the attibute, start the server. Again. computer A setup a webserver computer B cannot use A IP to visit .. why? how to config?

I spent half the day getting Uniform Server to work, trying two different PC's, with the same complete lack of progress. Given how easy all the info I read on Uniform Server claimed it was, this was a bit humbling, not to mention frustrating. Then I saw a note on some discussion grop to say that Skype might cause issues. So I turned Skype off (on both PC's) and everything went smoothly as promised. D'oh !!! :-) But Skype is critical to my business, and a key communication channel to my global customers and partners. So, how can I get both Uniform Server and Skype to work at the same time ??? hi all, I can't start my Uniform Server, it had worked before, but now I can't start it, just get this error message: The disk w is busy. Use start.bat [disk letter] I don't have the drive W listed and I have also tried with other drive letter, didn't help. also have cheked port 80, no program is running on this port. I have also cheked for the file: LIBMYSQL.*, but it is not in the directories C:\windows or C:\windows\system32 I'm running with version 3.2 but have also tried with version 3.3, but that not works either. hope somebody can help me out here. I like alternatives in particular any program that does not bore into my PCs registry and give me grief when trying to remove artefacts left over after uninstalling. As for mail servers Mercury is a nice one to play with it has been stable for a long time more importantly like UniServer you can break it to your hearts content without destroying your PC instalation. I have published a little guide for using it as a basic SMTP server allowing newcomers to have a play with the PHP mail function and to give them sleepless nights trying to get it to work.
