Ho! For a static IP address :)

Your first port of call could be this page:

http://center.uniformserver.com/uniserver/..._it_online.html

Then take it from there

I have never used Cpanel X hence no idea :(

Give it a bash and see if it works.

Now that you have a static IP you have to start the server and allow people on the outside world to connect to it. By default Uniserver will prevent anyone from connecting to allow them go to the site http://center.uniformserver.com and follow their instructions.

If you have a firewall you have to forward the port so other people can connect, again you can find instructions on http://center.uniformserver.com. Then all you need to do is buy a domain or use a free domain service.

I think cPanel will work, I don't see why not but I suggest you try their trial lisence before you decide to buy it. (Do they have a unlimited free version?)

Good luck with your server!

Are there other programs like uniServer for windows that come with FTP Servers, control panels etc all built into one?

Hi metaltailz

Thanks for that post I had no idea that cPanel was commercial. Like you I would also ask do they have an unlimited free version. Now please do not get me wrong on that comment. To be reasonably consistent with open software, any free commercial software shall not have a time limit on it. That said I expect reduced functionality however if it meets my needs then no problem, but if I get cut off after say thirty says then it is an issue.

I am in the process of looking at another commercial product and will put this on UniCenter. Even with its limited free version functionality it is an ace product. It’s not a closed secret look for OM3 or Office Mail from Burrotech. I am looking at another two weeks before publishing.

Sorry for the ramble but when something strikes my heart and beliefs I have been know to ramble on and on.

Hi DJC

Google is a very good place to start for alternatives. Try XAMP, TINY server, MINI server, WEB server on a USB, the bottom line find something that suits your needs and use it.

You could try adding Zpanel to Uniform that would so kick butt!.

Its a clone panel of Cpanel and free open source.

Edit for dydns i use editdns.net Will that work with my Static IP or do I need to find free static IP host? or something? Because I only will have 1 static IP. With my Internet upgrade.

If you use the one made for Windows, cPanel should work.. last i check though, it wasn't complete and out, but that was a year ago. So remember, it has to be for Windows.

About ZPanel, tried that once, dont know what the result was but i remember wanting to make it a plugin... just know its one of those long list of plugin we could make....

We dont add stuff like that to the distro because its not what we want. We want a small, clean, simple and mobile distro... you can then add what you want to it as u work... get me. Believe me, its even better. But know ZPanel will be made a plugin, *cough* one day,
