just downloaded Coral 8.0 and decided to run a diff on the production vs development .ini files. turned out there were some differences beyond what was expected. i'm attaching a diff report for your viewing/fixing pleasure. couple comments: +1 for the shortened links to the php manual (http://php.net/soap.wsdl-cache-dir rather than http://www.php.net/manual/en/soap.configur...wsdl-cache-dir) they seem to auto-detect/redirect based on the locale from useragent string / ip, etc. the "variables_order" defaults are set inconsistently with the description in the accompanying comment. EGPCS vs GPCS. if the comments are to be believed, they both should read"GPCS". thanks! …

yay RC1. but... i only see the basic Unitray plugin uploaded to SF http://sourceforge.net/projects/miniserver...basic_8_0_0.exe bugs found: - when trying to start/stop either Apache or MySQL by clicking on the indicators in the Basic tray (run as program mode), nothing happens. - clicking "stop both" leaves mshta.exe running. - there's still no at-a-glance indication in the tray icon itself which shows that the server is running. you have to go to the tray menu to get to this info, which makes it much less useful. would be much better if it was done as in previous versions, update the tray icon green/red or half green/half red to indicate Apache/MySQL status. Also…

So I have been searching for answers like past 2 months but haven't really been looking hard. Now last days I have been paying close attention to UniServer and have found an answer. I'm running UniServer 7.1.2-Orion My operating system is Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3 Before that I was running UniServer 7.0.1 and I had the same issues If you are like me then you probably have stability issues with Apache crashing when UniServer has been installed as a service. At first I suspected antivirus or firewall but I disabled everything but Apache still crashed sometimes randomly. It happens more often when you are booting into Windows XP. Usually it crashes …

hi Ric, in Coral it looks like there is no longer a way to control Uniform Server from a tray menu. this is def a added inconvenience but not a big deal. a bigger deal is that i cannot find any way to minimize it to system tray. i don't like W7's "Superbar" and do not group my programs, so the config panel wastes a whole lot of real-estate on my taskbar. it would be great to at least have an option to minimize to tray and show server status in the icon somehow that would open the control panel when clicked. i cannot daily-drive / test Coral till some send-to-tray functionality is implemented. sticking with Orion till then. i've noticed a slow gutting of features fro…

I'm unable use file_get_contents function to capture any remote site. The code runs perfectly fine on XP and Vista. All on the same network. I have already looked into htaccess and firewall but to no avail.. $homepage = file_get_contents("http://www.example.com/"); echo $homepage; and as shown in the error.log: [Tue Oct 25 18:29:14 2011] [error] [client ::1] PHP Warning: file_get_contents(http://www.example.com/): failed to open stream: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.\r\n in C:\\UniServer\\www\\test\\index.php on li…

Running on Windows XP, just installed the latest version of uniform server today. I ran the port test, all looks OK. 2_Apache_program.bat gives me the following output: (there is no log file generated) The following test checks Apache configuration file syntax Any errors reported must be corrected. If syntax check is OK you will see step 2) The system cannot execute the specified program. 2) START APACHE Expected results: A blank command window opens with a flashing cursor. This window remains open indicating the Apache server is running. Note: You may be challenged by your firewall ALLOW access Do not close windows. Perform the following: Running 1_p…

according to http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/sto...ne-setting.html i'm not sure if this was an oversight, or intentional behavior. InnoDB should NOT be disabled, and in fact should have been the default since way-back: Uniform Server v5.7.0 regards, leon

I like the name! I was running Orion (forgot to close it down) started Coral-B3 using P icon and was pleasantly surprised at the error message. Ports in use, displayed full path to offending program. Closed down Orion. Restarted Coral-B3 and received a new message, changed the MySQL password as recommended. Started both servers and installed Wordpress 3.2.1, works flawlessly. Tested on W7-Home edition

I think it would be most convenient to be able to see the status which shows if services are Started/Stop. The indicator would be within the task popup.

Hi - I've migrated a number of Joomla sites from IIS6 to Apache and now am trying to test them using a subdomain - e.g. http://newsite1.mydomain.com, http://newsite2.mydomain.com I've updated .htaccess, configuration.php and httpd.conf - I believe correctly. The problem is, when I try to browse to the new sites, it comes back with: "Sorry, the website www.newsite1.mydomain.com cannot be found" So, it's adding a "www." to the beginning. Note that http://newsite1.mydomain.com/test.html works fine, as does http://newsite1.mydomain.com/administrator. What am I missing? Thanks, Neal

If I stopped the MySQL Service, then copy the entire /data folder in /usr/local/mysql, is it the right thing to do? This action is assuming that I have the same exact version of mysql in your uniserver

After installation I went through the security notices and changed the passwords. After about the third one when I stopped and restarted the UniServer it cannot find the local host. I have the icon in the tray and I can access status menu but not the admin menu. Do I need to restart Windows? Any other solutions? Did I do something wrong? I am very new to this and just following step by step.

Hi all, I've installed Orion as I'm looking to run Wordpress to build a website locally before I find somewhere to host it. Uniserver was recommended, so here I am. Problem is, I'm a total newb to all this, and I'm finding it tough. Please indulge me, I have a some questions: 1) When clicking on such as "Admin Panel", I get the message: "There was a problem sending the command to the program". Any reason this might be happening? The program appears to be working normally in terms of actual servers running. 2) Did I need to separately install php and sql? I did this when I first got hold of WordPress, but Uniform Server implies that these things are bundled, but …

hello, is there any way to suppress the "UniTray created in System Tray" message box that comes up every time i start uniserver? i run a portable install and it's a nuisance to have it come up every time. i was able to comment out the part of the startup script that auto-launches the web browser but the message looks like it's hardcoded into the exe? is there a setting to turn it off? thanks, leon

Returning to Apache and MySQL after 15 year hiatus ... Running Vista. Downloaded and unpacked to C:\ start.exe starts tray icon Tried a few dozen times and finally got standalone up ONCE. Changed passwords. Restarted computer and still cannot reliably start standalone. Cannot EVER start as services. If I STOP services and stand-alone repeatedly I eventually get ports released and can start stand-alone. Apache log says Apache started twice, then a child process terminated unexpectedly without error code shown. Question: After unpacking what needs to be changed so that the servers start at all as services, or so that they can start reliably stand-alone? I know it…
