  1. I used to be able to do that on 7.x, how do I do that on 8.x? I can enable the security, but what directory should I allow from all, and what file should I edit to allow phpmyadmin remote access?

First of all I am a tad confused, I have to Apache logs which are www.my-domain.com-access.log and access.log. The access log for my domain has the odd bot connecting to it but access.log has loads of IP's mainly from Russia & China and a few form the USA with things like... I guess they are looking for particular versions of phpMyAdmin so they can exploit a security hole. Also how come both access are being used and is there an htaccess code I can add to block entire IP ranges? It would be good to have a custom redirect too.

HTTP via Apache 2.4/Chrome over LAN: FTP via FileZilla Server/Chrome over LAN: I'm not quite sure what the problem is I've tried turning memory mapping and sendfile off and on. Server: Windows XP Pro using Uniform Server, NetLimiter, Hamachi, Windows Firewall, No AV I should mention the DocumentRoot is hosted on an external usb HDD. Client(s): Windows 7 I've noted the points it pauses: 4, 68, 132 ... 64n+4 MB (not sure if it's MiB or MB, just going off Chrome) XAMPP works and so does Uni 8.0.0 and it goes slow but doesn't pause if I turn mmap off. I've tested it on both an external and internal HDD. Hopefully someone can shed light on what I'm doing wron…

I have tried to tight up my server as much as possible. Uniform Server seems to be pretty much secure right out of the box but I have some concerns for those who, like me, run their servers in production open to the world. The first thing that I noticed was apache and mysql services running as Administrator. I understand .vbs scripts and .bat files cannot run in Windows without elevated privileges in some cases; this is not one of them though. For all those running Uniform Server as Administrator, please reconsider your NTFS permissions! and the account(s) your apache and MySQL services are running under. I'm attaching a securitycheck.php file to my post. Upload th…

  7. Background: I'm tuning a UniServer hosted WebApp and WebAPI, running on Windows Server 2008 R2. Via the Task Manager, I experimented with setting the process priority for apache, mysql & php-cgi to "Above Normal" and saw complex processing task execution times reduce by 30%. This is quite significant. I have successfully rewritten php logic in my WebApp where it launches separate "worker" executables to launch it's WebApp processes at high priority: pclose(popen('start /B /HIGH '.$cmd, 'r' )); // $cmd is the command line to launch my worker exe Additionally, I've tried the following "Windows PowerShell" script to modify the running apache, mysql & php-cgi pro…

Hi guys, I have successfully ran my UniServer with PHP 5.3.10 NTS (Non Thread Safe) CGI/FastCGI and Windows Cache Extension for PHP (wincache) for a while now. A guide will be added later and probably a package download with: PHP 5.3.10 NTS FastCGI eacelerator, APC wincache mod_security Configuration files changes. Stay tuned.

Hi, Im new to the forums but not new to uniformserver I have not been able to run any new versions past 8.0.0 at all. Apache just flat out refuses to work at -all- Im not sure what else to do..? My system is Windows 7 Home Premium (I am aware this is not a proper server system but i cant afford to pay out the a$$ for a professional or higher OS, I have tried linux but it refuses to work at all with my NIC) I have ran uniform as admin just to see if it would work and it still does not work at all. Reguarding 8.5.1 I was able to start apache, but it continues to crash repeatedly. (below is an error from eventlog) Faulting application name: httpd1.exe, version: 2.…

  13. Now to start off, I would like to say the odds of someone using the same configuration as I am is fairly slim. Nonetheless I feel a cautionary tale / bug report is in order. I have been running various versions of US for about a year now on systems running XP, Vista, and 7. Little did I know how violent this little program could be. I am currently in the process of writing a new POS/Inventory/Employee management program for my employer. I am pretty good with computers and would occasionally code for fun but, I am not a software engineer by any stretch. We are currently running a horrible little program called Filepro. This dinosaur hasn't changed much since its inceptio…

  14. Hello all, Basically when ever I try to start both Apache and MySQL on The Uniform Server on my Windows 7 Ultimate desktop, I get the Script Error shown in the attached file. Which is basically declaring itself as a Script Error in 'core_functions_inc.vbs' line 678, character 2 within the Uniform Server package. I have tried to use different versions of uniform server other than the current one but all seem to give exactly the same error. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

When I click on view www in the uniform server instead of going directly to my web page it gives me a choice of two things, my website:Joomla 2.5 and favcon and them i have to click on Joomla2.5 to get to my home page. If someone from outside tries to access my site they face the same thing. Can someone please help me correct this. I realize it was a mistake I made in setting up the localhost server.

Hi Friends, I have done many changes in Theme to make it more attractive and better. Lit of changes done in new theme: 1) Added Icon in the top navigation under logo 2) Added Tooltip on mouse over upon navigation 3) The server version number is now dynamic, it will updated according to new version. 4) A huge changes in "Server Configuration" part. Now instead of separate window it will open in the main window as pop-up with different tabs, like Apache, PHP, MySQL... from there you can change settings. (this part requires through testing) 5) Added "Reload Window" icon next to Close button in top-right corner. Please see attached screenshots for more detail. http://…

  22. FYI, Attached is the current version of the QC checklist I have been developing and using to identify problems with releases of The Uniform Server. I am currently running the test series on Coral_8.4.0. I thought it would be beneficial to see what we have been checking. I'd be willing to entertain additional tests, but remember that I need to be able to do the tests easily and quickly. Regards, BobS QCchecklist.zip
