In my write-up on this page: http://center.uniformserver.com/u35_mod_ss...sl_1_intro.html I skipped signed certificates because of the real cost to home users, seems I have no real reason to use that excuse anymore I am looking at CAcert and their free server certificates. Any views or opinions on server certificates? All the best Ric

Some time ago Stefano had a small problem with ModRewrite http://forum.uniformserver.com/index.php?showtopic=1367 more precisely a regex problem. After this I had several requests for how to run ModRewrite on Uniform Server. It’s taken a while, I have written a tutorial and added it to the end of the new user section: # New Users Home # Quick Install # Quick HTML # Quick HTML Templates # Quick MySQL # Quick PERL - CGI # Quick PERL - PM (Perl Module) Problems # Quick PERL - CLI # Quick PHP - CGI (Dual mode CLI) # Quick PHP - CLI (Dual mode CLI) # Quick Python - CGI # hosts File # Mod Rewrite - Tutorial - Download examples Not sure if that was the best pl…

I am neither a programmer nor writer, more a rambler and hacker, found a nice toy to play with. For the first time I have written a Windows program, well sort off, the toy turns out to be a very powerful scripting language that even I can understand and use to program something of a windows nature. Thought I would share my findings by writing an Oily Rag mini-series, Olajide has allowed me to ramble on. Not sure if anyone is interested in this type of write-up or will even find it of any use. Uniform Server is probably the only WAMP package to be found on the Internet that has this accessibility for grass roots hacking; by this I mean tailoring to your own requirement…

I have had a problem registering with this Forum. The registration process generated an error that stated my email address is already registered!? I have currently registered using the domain dump address which is the dustbin for the spam. I am, therefore, anxious to get my registration changed to my normal email address as soon as possible. The address that is already registered is of the form *my first name* [.] *my last name* [@] *my reqistered domain*, and it would be appreciated if the offending record could deleted. Thanks Tarka

UniCenter UniCenter has been annoying me for some time hence I have done my utmost to bring the links up-to-date. I could not resist the temptation to add some new material. After several evenings and weekends have revamped the Home Web Server now reflects 3.5-Apollo, you may find this of interest. First point of call Single Page Guide. I do confess some of the links will take you to some unexpected places I am working on this. I think I mentioned the site is not spit and polished, it’s more of a meander around pages, pick up a few ideas and feel free to use them. Well I see me typos still exist and my bad English, if you need to correct the English there is no…

I am not sure if you are aware that the Wiki is down! This is a valuable resource; I like it and use it. Like HELP there is some info I would like to check out, but no access. I keep getting this: Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in.... I am after an entry by Mr X, not seen him on the forum lately, suppose he’s been fully assimilated by Unix All the best Ric

I am finding it difficult to answer problems. I have Windows XP home have no problem running tests to answer questions on that OS. However I do not see users stating their OS. This would give us a sporting chance to point them in the right direction. All the best Ric

[13-Jul-2007] php.net Today it is exactly three years ago since PHP 5 has been released. In those three years it has seen many improvements over PHP 4. PHP 5 is fast, stable & production-ready and as PHP 6 is on the way, PHP 4 will be discontinued. The PHP development team hereby announces that support for PHP 4 will continue until the end of this year only. After 2007-12-31 there will be no more releases of PHP 4.4. We will continue to make critical security fixes available on a case-by-case basis until 2008-08-08. Please use the rest of this year to make your application suitable to run on PHP 5. We are always running the fastest stable release of php so no …

I sit here looking at the forum and see no real activity. A number of visitors well just pass by. The trouble is I look at UniCenter, kindly hosted by Olajide, true to his word no censorship; I do really mean that and thank him for being that honest. The real reason for this post, I know UniCenter is getting to the stage where it is well past its sell by date. OK to be honest a little difficult to manage. I will publish a few more articles for 3.5 however what I would like to known do you find the material useful? I would like to prune or delete topics that are no longer of any use. However I would like to know is there anything related to UniServer th…

Well, since no one has thought to start an off topic discussion, i thought of the best first off topic thread to post. A desktop competition.. Winner gets titled as the Desktop King in the title section of the forum. Where it says "Project Developer" for mine. Take a screenshot of ur desktop, upload it to any website an attach the link to it. You can also upload it here but please do not just put it as an image or i will kill u. Attach it and not just put the img src tags in the thread! Your things will be rated by everyone and not me! Skins, themes, and so on.. Let the rumble begin

I saw in the Uniform Server setting that Danish is the second option for language. Olajideolaolorun, are you from Denmark? My wife is Danish and we're going to be visiting there in September. We've been living in Thailand doing volunteer work for many years. Looking forward to our visit there although not too sure we'll be able to cope with the cold? Nice and warm here. Right now about 35 centrigrade!

So yeah... has anyone seen/know of one? And is there a good PHP editor out there that you can un-zip and all it needs stays in it's folder... Allow me to begin with a dream about Uniform Server (and Olajide): Once upon a time, there was a user, who had some problems and his name was OfteN: MrX, who was pissed off by all those Skype problems, decided to ask him about it first... ...but it was not Skype and therefore MrX went on to the other boring questions:

I'd like to use my new web server as a portal to linked URL's, etc., but also as a place to store notes to myself, todo lists, etc. Does anybody know of a good script (Perl/CGI, javascript,...) for sticky notes on a web page? - Jeff
