Hello: As a user of FreeMind I decided to try it out with the Uniform Server - this what I did successfully and thought it might be useful information: 1. under www - placed freemindbrowser.jar 2. under www - placed freemindbrowser.html 3. under www - created directory maps - place a FreeMind map there 4. under www/maps - created a directory images - and place an image there (image used by my test map). 5. Edited map and inserted image using browse function of FreeMind to make sure I was getting to image 6. Edited freemindbrowser.html to put in following path to my test map to access test.map .....VALUE="./maps/test.mm"> 7. To access/display map - type in …

Hi Folks, I am real pleased to have discovered Uniform Server. When I use to develop ASP based sites I was able to set the Windows web server to map site directories from a location outside the www root. In my case I had (and still have) all my development files in a folder called "Webroots" which is at D:\webroots\ My Documents maps to D:\ on my computer as I like to have all user files on one partition separate from the OS and Apps. Anyway... on the windows server I somehow had it so that each site was pulled up from its folder under d:\webroots The advantage of this is that I only needed to keep one copy on my local machine, rather than a development copy and a…

Sorry if this is in the wrong section. Using Phpbb Version 2.0.22 I don't use mail. And I Do not have mail installed on my server computer here. For some reason when I add another member to my site. It does that debug mail error after people join. Is there a phpbb mod/hack to get rid of that debug error ? I host my own website on my own server computer

Hi! Currently, I'm using easyPHP for my local development, but it is a limited solution for my needs, and I had heard of Uniform Server, and thought I'd look into the switch. Especially appealing to me is the concept of carrying it with me on a USB stick, allowing me to take my work wherever I go. However, in my search for information, I can't find anything on this subject, either in the Wiki, or in the forums. Is there a step-by-step list of instructions for installing and using US on a USB drive? I'll be moving between machines--even, if possible, to clients' machines, as well--so this is a must know before I proceed. Hope to hear from you here soon!

Just letting all of the developers know that the new site doesn't seem to work. When I click on a menu item the URL changes but the content does not. I don't know if this is an error in the programming or you don't have any content but something isn't working properly. I have testing it with Firefox 2.0.0.4, IE 6; I am running Windows 2000. It may just be the computer I am using (I'm at school) I will try it out at home to make sure.

I am a ColdFusion MX 7 developer looking to see if anyone has installed ColdFusion MX 7 on their UniServer? There is the IgniteFusion that will work ont he UniServer, however, it does not support all of the ColdFusion tags/functions. If anyone has successfully installed CFMX7 server on their Uniform Server, and would be willing to share, please post. Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated! Stacy M.

First off, thank you for making this great piece of software. I've used it in my work as a programmer and as a teacher, and it has always worked out for me. However, just now, it just stopped working for me (bear with me for a while, this is not a plea for support). I double clicked the .bat file, and the command prompt showed up saying Apache is started and W drive is created. However, I can't open http://localhost/, and there is no W drive in My Computer. Hm. So I try it again, without stopping the server first, but I get no error. But still no server. Oookayy... Went to the website. Opened the Wiki, FAQ, and Forum in three separate tabs. Combed through eac…

I have created a PHP/mySQL application for use by non-geeks at Australian volunteer bushfire brigades (www.FireShed.com) This is going to be used on un-networked computers and after a bit of research Uniform Server looks like just what I am after. Correct me if I am wrong, but it includes the web server, PHP and mySQL as part of the package. I want to make the install as easy and transparent as possible for users and am going to create a package using inno installer. What I want is to be able to set defaults for the server so they don’t have to do any setting up at all, I will do it for them as part of the install. Is that possible? IF so…where do I find thos…

UniCenter is a strange beast; it is independent that’s why I have never ported anything to the Wiki. The reason behind that is because I can; well just move it to another location and remain independent. Olajide (thanks), after nine months has been true to his word; he would host the site with no censorship. Well I have just revamped the site and I hope have made it a little more navigable. I have added some new sections to actively encourage any new user to go in and have a play. That may sound strange but I have hammered UniServer to the point of annihilation but it has never reciprocated; by that I mean has never KILLED my machine. Why the hell do I support UniServ…

Hi, I was just curious as to how far you've got in the developement of unicd (where you can run the server off cd-rom)...Not to rush you guys or anything, I was just curious to know if you have started on that project yet. I seen a post saying it was coming soon. I haven't sent a donation to you guys just yet as I just started a new job about 2 months ago, and I am catching up on bills, but I will send you a donation in the coming month or so. Thanks alot in advance, -Brian

Current XAMPP user here, looking for a production-class alternative. Uniform Server looks like it would fit the bill. By "portable", am I to understand that I can install Uniform Server and develop a whole LAMP CMS-based website, or multiple sites, on an offline development machine, then simply copy the whole caboodle to a production server? No reinstallation, no recreating MySQL databases, no repopulating data, etc.? This would be really swell but it's hard to believe it would actually be that simple...

I like like to petition that Uniform server be added to the list of apps availiable at http://portableapps.com/apps XAMPP is on there already and I think there is room for UniformServer. I've had good luck just taking my uniform server setup with me and I run it from a thumb drive for guerrilla style roaming websites. For this reason I feel it should be submitted to portableapps.com Anyway. Back to bug busting. -Tom

I've installed UniServer on my USB flash drive and it works fine, however... I have a situation where I needed to do a demo on a public library network. This fails because the network has restricted the use of batch (.bat) and command (.com) files for security reasons. This is a serious problem since the UniServer uses batch files to start services, etc. I am currenly using a workaround (sorry about this...) using the 'other' WAMP server whose name begins with "X....". It works in the above situation because it provides and executable (.exe) file for control and configuration. Please note that this workaround is less than satisfactory for several reason, not …

Hi guys, I've attached here a zip file to decompress into "Uniform Server" folder to patch it into italian. So you'll have a complete italian interface to server and the italia version of PhpMyAdmin. Thanks to the italian translator for the great job! Let me know about it... Bye, Pierluigi. The_Uniform_Server_Italian_patch.zip

Hi, I recently was referred to uniform server as a solution to test some website locally on my windows based machine. Everything I've read and seen about Uniform Server seems to be great! At one time I had an Apache installed on my machine but found it a little confusing/overkill for what I wanted to do. I'm not doing any big time hosting or anything. Just would like to download a CMS and test it out locally. I'm just wondering what security issues I should be aware of with uniform server, if any? Like, once downloaded and installed on my machine, is their anything else I should do to lock it down to ensure my machine isn't hacked into? Thanks, Deron

Thanks a lot for understanding in advance. Falc

Can you speak, read, or write in other languages apart from English? If so, then you can help us. The Uniform Server Development Team is looking for translators to help translate both Admin Panel 1 and 2. Attached is the pack for Admin Panel 2 which will be packed with 3.3 in the upcoming release. If you would like to become an official translator, please help by translating this first pack into another language other than English, and then attach it to a reply on this topic. After translating, you status in the forum will be changed to Translator/Beta Tester. To translate, please read the READ ME.txt file in the package. It is very recommended that you follow th…

I like that Uniform Server can be stored on my USB stick, but I wanted to use a script that would edit files via the browser and the only problem is that when I stop Uniform server, the changes aren't saved on the stick. Does that mean I'll have to copy the www directory back to the USB stick prior to stopping the server? (and the MySQL tables/anything else that is being changed?) I was wondering if there was a way around this, or something... Thankyou for your time.
