As the title says. I regularly use APC for my accelerator, and I have to add it manually everytime I updated Uniserver. Is it possible to include it on php extension by default for next release? Maybe other accelerators too. Thanks.

In the next generation of Uniform Server It has been proposed to remove Apanel. Does anyone use this for remote access and configuration? Are you using it for local configuration only? Any feedback welcome All the best Ric

Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) With the release of 6.0.1-Carbo you will find some functions use WMI. This is allegedly generic XP, Vista and W7. If it proves not to be the case these functions will be regressed to ones that do work. That said I have tested on a vanilla XP-Home machine and it works fine. Hence this is open to XP+, Vista and W7 users. Please post negative or positive results. All the best Ric

  4. I have not yet tried the Carbo version because everything is just fine with the Nano version but I was wondering what exactly is diferent in the Carbo version. I did not find a place where there are clear shown the differences.

On another forum I was asked how often does Uniform Server update? Strange question until I was referred to the Wiki home page. Ho well! Difficult to remember everything we only have focus for the next version. After Olajide announced 4.0-Mona we were straight into V5, OK so a few Mona updates! Yep security issues are important hence updates. Mona 4.3 looks stable. V5 well that’s currently at Alpha V6 may be next weekend Alpha V7. There are significant changes. I think Olajide is looking at another four weeks before a beta release could be more. Back to the original question, Uniform Server is updated regularly. All the best Ric

After six days not a single response. Can only assume it’s a masterpiece and well polished Then again it really is bad and should be assigned to the bin. I think it hovers between the two. Being an open beta everyone has an opportunity to bash it into shape. Feel free to knock it, preferably provide constructive ideas to move it forward. All the best Ric

Any plans to include MongoDB in with Uniform Server in the future? I really love Uniform Server but within the past month I closed two separate MongoDB freelance projects and had to rely on other not-so-polished WAMP solutions. I missed UniServ the entire time.

I have just received a PM regarding 5.6-Series and concern for its demise! Please note this remains the prime stable branch. Main components are being tracked such as PHP5.3.3Rc1 etc When every component gels, there will be a new release. 6.0.0-Carbo is a public beta. In all honesty it is a proposal. We cannot test under all conditions and environments. Uniform Server adds nothing to the registry hence if it all goes pear shape, a PC restart should remove any issues. I say should because if you are concerned do not beta test as a service. Ignore that and test as a standard program. Hey! Less of this negative stuff, just give, it a hammering and see what fails.…

  11. I'd like to run The Uniform Server on a 1.6Ghz Intel Atom N270 based system. I'm considering an ASUS EeeTop ETP1602C touch screen to run a web app. The system runs XP Home so I feel comfortable from an OS point of view, but I didn't know if there was anything about the N270 that would make Apache, PHP and MySQL not work or perform so poorly as to be unusable with Firefox in kiosk mode with light use of Javascript. The application is not particularly resource hungry, but I do change the PIP.ini to support more memory (128 Mb) and use MySQL PDO support. Anyone had any experience using The Uniform Server on an Intel Atom based machine? Thanks, ctopher

I Like it! Start Uniform Server from the second start_2.exe to not see the popup. Done! Just a litle confused how to obtain the following: When Uniform Server is started from start.exe the apache and the mysql processes to start automatically without opening the index.php. Thank you for Uniform Server, Alqin

  13. Thanks for a great setup. I've been wanting to setup a small XAMP server at home but didn't really want a PC running all the time. I've now got US running on a Wyse Winterm XP embedded thin client. Low power, no fan noise and it fits on a bookshelf. What more could you want? For anyone interested, the only probem I came across was the absence of a NULL device for Apache. US would crash on startup. The Apache error log showed "Unable to connect child stdout to NUL." After some searching I found an easy way to install. Here are the instructions for anyone interested. Need to have administrative permissions on system! 1. Copy null.sys from a Windows XP PC …

I am surprised at the lack of interest in Z-Con. It exposes all capabilities of Uniform Server in an easy to use interface. This plugin does not integrate into Uniform Server’s architecture it just taps into and uses certain control functions. To remove just delete folder UniServer\plugins\zcon and files UniServer\Z-CON.exe and UniServer\z_con_readme.txt It has full Wiki support Z controller Introduction Download V56_ZCON_1_2 Reason for this post; I am interested why the reluctance to use it. Z-CON I am basically lazy! Just like to perform a few mouse clicks to get the job done. Even with Z-Con, still finding I need to use either Apanel or Unitray to do basic MySQL stuff. I resorted to using that MySQL command prompt. So I am thinking either add a drop down menu or new tab to do the job? Hey! Perhaps even bin it. Not sure if it’s of any use? Any feedback is welcome. I am my wits end. I have been using joomla on Uniserver for some months and it has worked great. When I tried to add a new site (number 4) i could not get past the Joomla install database screen, every thing I try I get "Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL" I have tried new installs of both Uniserver and joomla, I have modified the Joomla Configuration.php-dist file as configuration.php, i have tried new users, default users, pre-installed joomla/Uniserver files nothing gives me a different result. It is even more frustrating as it takes about a minute to tell me it has failed. I had a similar issue when I 1st tried Uniserver and got good advice t…

First, exclent work, thanks a lot. As I know that the xampp is released under GPL license. I want to make sure that the license of uniform server has no problem. Since the license of MySQL and phpMyAdmin are both GPL licensed. I think unifrom server should be licensed in GPL also. Hope reply. Thanks a lot.

Hey again! OK, it's like this: the Joomla add-on I want to install on localhost requires Ioncube so I'm using Aryos' Custom UniServer, as all previous attempts to add Ioncube to the vanilla US installation failed. However, when I go to install Joomla, I get a series of errors above the header and below the footer, like so: http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/2857/joomlaja.png These errors are not present when using the vanilla installation of UniServer 5.5, Joomla installs just fine in that case. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks.

I have finished "hacking" version 5.5 "Nano", because I found it too complicated for my needs (I like to keep a separate and portable Uniform version with every website or application I develop plus I needed some extra tools inside) and thought I should share this. You can download the custom version from here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9521AEW8 What this version includes: - Apache 2.2.14 - PHP 5.2.12 configured with all the PHP plug-ins loaded by Uniserv 5.5 plus the Ioncube Loader extension and sqlite-based session management - PHPMyAdmin 3.2.4.0 - msmtp CHANGES: - Old style (version 3.5 "Apollo") Control Panel - No Control Tray. There is just a "Server_Start.b…

I am very excited by what I learned about The Uniform Server and hope it will help me set up my first website using Joomla. However I have made several attempts to get it working and failed. Part of my problem is I feel I do not understand all the instructions. It is only the past few months that I've started to learn what to do to set up a website and I know very little if anything about programming, etc. Being 75 I may also be a little slow at these new concepts. Maybe if we had a writer from Computers for Dummies rewrite the instructions it might help me. Example of some items that caused me trouble in the "5.0-Nano:Install and Run" directions: -two modes eith…

  25. Hello everybody, Hare Krishna! First, thanks for the excellent work. Congratulations! Available at Sourceforge a brazilian portuguese translation of the Administration Panel 3.0, with a homepage localhost with multi language support. On the homepage, code, design, data and translations are reasonably separated into specific files, and the code is documented with sources of reference. To add a translation to homepage, simply include the file (i.e. French.php) in the "/languages/" directory and the country flag (i.e. French.gif - 32 x 20 px) in the "/images/" directory. Nothing more. The data lists (componentes, specifications, navibar) are on csv…
