I just upgraded to Uniform server 5.7.1-Nano from 5.6. Now when I try to install Joomla, I can't get past the database install. When I get to the database information, localhost, login: root, password: root, test - name of database that I created, I Iget this message below. Can anyone explain what I'm doing wrong and what I can do to correct it. WHAT I'VE TRIED SO FAR: 1. Create a new database 2. Delete entire Uniform server, services, etc.... 3. Newer version of Uniform server You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'TYPE=MyISAM CHARACTER SET `utf8`' at lin…

Hi! Got a problem, and I guess it is SQL problem (I'm not experienced at all, so I might be wrong). The problem is: in previous version of Uniserver (5.6.16) the default collation was utf8_general_ci, which was good and helpful (I had nothing to change). And now, in 5.7.1 SUDDENLY it changed to latin1_swedish_ci, and it messed up all my tables. I know it is possible to restore everything and all, but maybe there any way to change default collation? Or maybe I misunderstand something at all? Oh, almost forgot - I'm Russian speaking and I use Russian language in my tables.

Hi I am brand new to uniform server and joomla. I am busy with my first website. I put it on a Memstick to make it more portable. The site is almost finished but now I cant start the server it says: "mysqld-opt.exe is not working and Apache.exe entry point not found". " The procedure entry point_apr_palloc@8 could not be located in the dynamic link library.dll." Is there a way to fix this or will I have to start over? I am running windows 7

Hi, I'm working on localhost with Joomla 1.5.22 using Mona 4.3 on a XP SP3 machine. I'm trying to access my site and get the following from MySQL: "Cannot start server Port 3306 in use by another server." Uniform server says it is started but My Sql isn't. One green the other red. I look into Task Manager PID and find apache.exe on port 3116 mysqld-opt.exe is running on port 2600 there is absolutely nothing listed for port 3306 when I press "test" on Uniform server panel it says "Your Apache server port is: 80 SSL not enabled. Port 443 is free to use. Unable to run MySql another server is using port 3306" Again, Task PID manager does not list anything being…

Hi Everyone, I am new to Uniform Server and Joomla, have a little knowledge, but only enough to make me dangerous! While trying to install Joomla, using Uniform Server, I keep getting the error: Could not connect to the database. Connector returned number: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL I have tried a number of things, usually things that mean I need to reinstall Uniform Server, after a few attempts to do this stage of the install, I get the following message. An error has occurred.: Cookies do not appear to be enabled on your browser client. You will not be able to install the application with this feature disabled. Alternat…

After a period on inactivity I have come back to learn Web Serving and Web Site development. I downloaded and configured the most recent version of UniServer. The first couple of times I was able to start and stop both Apache and MySQL. After some configuration changes like enabling password requirement with cookie method for phpmyadmin, MySQL does not stop and when I check my running processes I notice that mysqld-opt.exe has continued to run. I'm having to kill/stop this manually to restart all (Apache & MySQL). Is there something wrong, please help. Running Uniserver on Windows XP SP3 Browser - Firefox 3.6.12 Running US 5.6.15-Nano Running Z-Controller Z-…

I have a query that imports a lot of data (inserting millions of rows). It takes about 10 mins to import everythig. At the same time I want to run a small query but it takes ages to complete this query, usually after long query is completed. How I can destribute resources equally between queries so that small query finishes in 1-2 sec. while big query keeks runnings?

Hi, for security reasons, I change username 'root' and pass 'root' to something else like 'abcdef' and '123456'... After changing the username, the MySQL server would not shutdown if you use Start.exe > Stop Uniserver Maybe it is located in UniServer\unicon\main\includes\functions.php LINE 342 $cmd3 = US_MYSQL_BIN."/mysqladmin.exe --port=$mysql_port --user=root --password=$mysql_password shutdown\""; Look at the bolded parts. I changed it to 'abcdef' and now MySQL server can be turned off properly... My main point: Besides get_mysql_password(), please would you mind to also implement something like get_mysql_username() ?

When I try to change the default SQL password from root to something else via apanel, apanel just hangs and the content of ..\UniServer\home\admin\www\mysql_password remains "root". I tried install Uniformserver on my hard drive and my thumb drive, but I get the same problem. I'm running 5.5 nano windowsXP firefox 3.6 When i use process explorer to see what is running I see ..\UniServer\usr\local\apache2\bin\apache.exe and ..\UniServer\usr\local\mysql\bin\mysqld-opt.exe are running. I changed the password from the command line using mysql, but even though I changed mysql_password by hand, phpAdmin would no longer work. So I reinstalled but I am getting the same proble…

Using Windows XP I have set up Joomla 1.5 on Uniform Server and set up for outside access to localhost. It all works fine until I try to make it more secure by changing the MySQL password from "root" that was used during setup. I go into to Uniform Server through the admin panel and when I do the security check I can change all passwords without trouble except MySQL. When I cange that I cannot get into localhost but get this message: "Database error: Unable to connect to database. Could not connect to MySQL" The if I cange back to "root" password (and close and open my browser) everythink works again. For security with outside access I would like to be able to chan…

I'm quite excited to start using Uniform Server after what I've heard involving speed improvements with drupal (over XAMPP and WAMP). Unfortunately I've been trying to get it to work for the last couple of hours without success. I've narrowed the problem down to something having to do with mysql: 1.When I try to change the mysql root password from Apanel, I get "waiting for localhost" for a period of time, and then the webpage reloads with "Error Connecting to mysql." 2. When I try to set up a drupal installation, I get this message after entering the mysql database information (using username root, password root, on a database I just created in phpmyadmin): "Failed…

Hello, i'm trying to install Tracks in my windows xp pc, following this instructions: http://bsag.bingodisk.com/public/files/tra...nstallation.pdf At a certain point, it's asked to me to click on phpMyAdmin, in order to create and alter MySQL databases. Hi there! I am trying out the MySQL MERGE Storage Engine. I am able to create a TABLE that is set to use MERGE, but when I query the table I get an error 1168. Can anybody here check this issue? By issuing the commend "SHOW ENGINES\G", MERGE is showing as being supported. I tried doing the same thing on an Ubuntu LAMP server and I can verify that the MySQL setup there is good for MERGE Engine.

Ok... I found the uniform server after having trouble with other wamp installations. I like the fact that TUS is touted as "secure for production" out of the box. All I've done so far is unpacked and stuck it on a drive all by itself. I ran the security check and changed all the passwords except for the mysql password. I looked at the documentation and followed the directions: 1 - input password 2 - click change 3 - stop server with stop.bat (I'm using 'Stop_Server.bat' found in the Alternative Control folder) 4 - start server with start.bat (same dir as above, 'Start_Server.bat') 5 - The default Uniform Server info/index page comes up 6 - I click Admin page 7 - I'm STILL…

Hello, First posting and i guess as good as any moment to thank you for the greatest WAMP development tool i've ever seen. But i do have (probably limited to just this) a small grief. I noticed this problem after i tried to upgrade from the 5.3 to 5.4 server. For some reason my php/mysql programming stopped working when trying to read/write to the MySQL database. Not being very server inclined, i browsed the forums for a solution but didn't find any so i left it for the next version. But now i tried to upgrade to version 5.5 and the same problem arose. The server tray icon thingagy is working fine and starting both Apache and MySQL server was no problem. I could eve…

I've spent a bunch of money on new PHP books, and I've inherited three more that also cover PHP 5. Then after I began reading them, I discovered that best practices are that we don't use mysql programming, but that we upgrade to mysqli programming. Unfortunately, not one of the books I bought covers the MySQLi extension and how to program with it. When I Google for a book that covers the "improved" mysql, and when I go to Amazon and use the "search inside" feature, it's only covered in an appendix or an occasional mention, like an afterthought. Although I'm a newbie at PHP, I was a senior technical writer at Fujitsu and Brodia in the pre-crash economy, I wrote section…

Sorry for the wrong title, but I had a bunch of questions, most of which I resolved by searches and other things. What's left makes me crazy in that it's so basic. So when I originally posted this post I forgot to change the title, and for whatever reason, I'm not seeing the button or other control to delete the post and start over. I apologize in advance for my lack of what may be common information. I'm a newbie on a huge programming mission that will take me several years, I don't work as an IT professional, and my time is limited by being a caregiver for a disabled person. I've done the CRUD tutorial on the NetBeans site and the first half of PHP for Dummies, so …
