In order to update without losing data you need to first back up your data.

This can be done within UniformServer from MySQL-> Database backup and restore function..

When you backup the data it creates an SQL file in the db_backup_restore folder. 

Since you have the data you can safely upgrade the database. Once done, restore the data to the updated database.
