jschall
No big deal, but why does the Apache log fill up with lines like this? [Wed Nov 02 06:36:31 2005] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: W:/www/favicon.ico I will copy an icon file into W:/www just to keep the old Indian happy  - Jeff
olajideolaolorun
Because when using FireFox, it automatically request it? And it is not in there? Quote Best Regards Olajide Olaolorun The Uniform Server Development Team
jschall
I don't use Firefox. The favicon.ico was not there when I installed Uniform Server, but I put one in, a smiley face, and now Avant Browser displays it when I open the server from my laptop. Is there an "official" favicon.ico for the Uniform Server or Apache? - Jeff
olajideolaolorun
Yeah, it is in 3.3. Quote Best Regards Olajide Olaolorun The Uniform Server Development Team
elyk
Because when using FireFox, it automatically request it? And it is not in there? :angry:1737[/snapback]I thought that all browsers requested the favorite icon. I'm almost certain IE does; at least it displays the icon. jschall
I'm sure you are right, elyk. And you helped me understand what is happening! - Every time I access the remote Uniform Server from my laptop, it requests the favicon from Apache - and if it's not there, Apache logs that as an error! Thanks! - Jeff
olajideolaolorun
k, people... lets leave the topic closed. Elyk, not all browsers do. IE does not for sure and neither does mine display it even if it is there or coded to the page. I know FF does and some others. Topic Closed. Ric
Wow! What piece of history, I very rarely fire up IE I was wondering do you still need to force IE to request a favicon.http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/Ad...ver#favicon.icoWell IE7 in this respect is compliant, yep and will fill the error log with those ico errors. Just make sure you have one in the root folder All the best Ric Oops sorry Olajide Open and Closed!
