upgraded and not working

I just upgraded from 5.6.1 Nano to 5.6.13 Nano. I overwrote the old files and that broke everything so I deleted all of it and started with the new version. Old version ran fine, except very slow (1 minute page loads) on installed Drupal sites.

 

Drupal 6.19 will not install on new installation. White screen of death after selecting English in Drupal setup.

 

US is on a 16GB flashdrive. System is WinXP-Pro version 2002 SP3, 2Ghz processor, 2GB of RAM.

Update:

So I tried to load Drupal on 10/21/2010; first time it timed out, second time it loaded. I come back to it on 10/22/2010 and Drupal reports node_type table needs to be repaired. I did the repair from PHPadmin by selecting the table, and at the bottom of the list of tables, in the drop down menu, selected repair. Now every time I try to do something with my site I keep getting time out errors.
