  1. Thanks, Ric! ... but which one do I use? CRON from US or the schedule from phpMyBackupPro? Would you be so kind as to spell out the exact instructions (I have gone through the Help file and docs already) I have a production site that needs a scheduled backup but so far, I have been unable to implement it. Cheers! Lyle
  2. I've checked the docs and tried all that I could think of, but I cannot for the life of me get CRON / db Backup to work in any of the Zero XI versions. Was no problem in any of the Coral ones. The CRON ini for db_backup that ships with Zero XI has this for a path: "path = C:\UniServerZ\home\us_cron\test\db_backup\Run_db_backup.bat" However, there is no "Run_db_backup.bat" nor the VBS file it refers to in the Zero XI package. What am I missing? Cheers! Lyle
  3. Gary - yours would be the safest method (export / import). Cheers! Lyle
  4. Thanks, Ric!
  5. Use Start_as_service
  6. Update: Did the upgrade overnight as per the excellent instructions and all is up and running smoothly (and noticeably quicker) The only "issue" I had was forgetting to un-comment the SSLCertificateChainFile line and rename the default entry to the one obtained from the CA ... I thought I had had enough coffee Thanks again! Cheers! Lyle
  7. Thanks for the quick response Ric Sorry for not specifying the post, but yes, that was the one. Will give this a go and report back. Cheers! Lyle
  8. Thanks Ric for the detailed explanation in the other topic. I tested it locally and works like a charm. Would the same apply for using SSL? I have Coral 8.6.8 running in a production setting using SSL (with the cert from a CA - GoDaddy). Yes I know it's "out of date", but it just keeps chugging along with no issues Of course, this version has the OpenSSL vulnerability and I am looking into how I can fix this in the most efficient manner. I am not an SSL "expert" as this is my one and only install using it. Using the steps in your previous explanation, would it "work" if I just moved the files from the Coral 8.6.8 SSL folder to the SSL folder in Zero 11.1.3 (along with the database export/import of course) or are there additional specific steps to take with the SSL portion? Any other considerations? Thanks in advance Lyle
  9. Good to know! ... thanks!
  10. Please refer to the documentation For the start-up menu link, it's in your docs here: `UniServerZ/docs/manual/extra.html#PC-Win start-up`
  11. Are the downloads "safe"?
  12. [Resolved] I must not have had enough coffee when going through the motions in my previous post All that I had to do when creating the local (US) db was name it EXACTLY what it will be on the remote site. Works just fine now regardless of who the local db user is.
  13. Just noticed this today as I have not done an import to a remote hosting account site from a local US since 8.8.2. Did some testing and this occurs with US 8.8.4 and higher. US 8.8.3 still works as expected. Issue: - getting access denied error when attempting to import a US exported SQL file into the remote host phpMyAdmin. - always had worked "as expected" up until the above-noted change; that is, export the local db, create a new db on the host and import the db using the host's phpMyAdmin. Going through the change logs, I notice that phpMyAdmin has been updated along the way. 4.0.0 works (US 8.8.3) but 4.0.2 and up generate this error. How / where can whatever changes be made so that I do not get this error? When installing a new version of US locally, I always change the db password to what it is on the remote host. The error is that the user 'name_of_HOSTING_account' (not the db user) is denied for 'LOCAL_database_name' (not the remote one). I need to get this sorted as I recommend the latest version of US every chance I get on the WordPress, eFront and Joomla! forums. I really would not like to recommend they use and "older version". Cheers! Lyle
  14. Howdy, I just tried Nano 5.5a on my Win 7 Home Premium 64bit system and it works like a charm :)/> Installed Joomla! 1.5.26 just to test and as you can see, it works well. Cheers! Lyle
  15. As the title mentions, Apache is stopping "for no apparent reason" :)/> I am not an Apache "guru" by any stretch of the imagination, so that is why I am asking here. Below is the most recent example of these errors in the Apache Error log entries for when this occurs: [Wed Mar 20 01:54:38.056687 2013] [mpm_winnt:notice] [pid 3156:tid 376] AH00422: Parent: Received shutdown signal -- Shutting down the server. [Wed Mar 20 01:54:40.085623 2013] [mpm_winnt:notice] [pid 3656:tid 276] AH00364: Child: All worker threads have exited. [Wed Mar 20 01:54:40.101231 2013] [mpm_winnt:notice] [pid 3156:tid 376] AH00430: Parent: Child process exited successfully. I really need to get to the root of this issue or I am going to be forced to abandon my fave AMP stack in favour of - dare I say it - IIS! Yikes! This instance of TUS is running in production for an eFront Learning Management System with well over 1,000 active users and my VP of Corporate Training is on my case to get this resolved ASAP! I have another instance of a similar install where this issue has never occurred, so I am at a bit of a loss to figure it out. Both of these server setups are Win 2008R2 Standard, SP1, 64 bit, 4GB RAM on a Xeon E5620 @ 2.4 GHz. BTW, I am still running this "older" version of Coral because the versions of the items involved are what work with this version of eFront. Any direction as to where to look for a "fix" will be greatly appreciated Cheers! Lyle
  16. aoristos - who would have thought! ... that was exactly it! I am trying out Steel RC2 and got the error while starting phpMyAdmin. I did as you say and I was in Cheers! Lyle
  17. Hi Rob, Have you verified that: Sever Configuration > General > Root www - Change passwords and access > Change State www > Local, Intranet and Internet Access has been selected? Cheers! Lyle
  18. Glad you got it working What sort of problems are you experiencing "getting it to run properly"? I've used XAMPP and WAMP extensively before finding The Uniform Server, and IMHO, it's the best of the bunch!
  19. Thanks for the info However, I notice that this is not on the "official" Uniform Server download site, so I am wondering if these are "officially sanctioned", or use at your own risk. I'll have to give them a go to see how they work
  20. When I wanted to do the same thing, a search of this forum brought me to: http://forum.uniformserver.com/index.php?showtopic=2597 I have used this a few times now and it appears to work just fine
  21. You are trying to run UniServer from a location that has spaces in the folder name, most likely My Documents. This will not work, as per the documentation I always extract and run mine from C:\ or the Desktop. Makes life a lot easier. Extract it again to C:\ or your Desktop and try again. You can just delete the previous attempt. Cheers! Lyle
  22. mint_waxed - Thanks for the persistence ... I was experiencing this as well, however, mine occurred intermittently and I could not reproduce. I too was always stopping both before closing; I will now try your method and just close
  23. Found the answer in this little gem! http://www.julian-young.com/2011/01/12/php...port-generator/ It is really simple and easy to configure and then set up as a CRON job. Well worth the small price. My client is very happy and that's what counts!
  24. When you are using VHosts, then nothing goes under the www folder In your example, if tc.com is your main site, then it goes in the root of vhosts: Uniserver/vhosts/tccom/all the tc. com files and folders (e.g. all the Joomla! files and folders) If sitea and siteb are accessed by tc.com/sitea, tc.com/siteb, then these go inside the tccom folder: Uniserver/vhosts/tccom/sitea/all the sitea files and folders If these other two sites are accessed via sitea.com and siteb.com, then they also go in the root of vhosts and your vhosts folder would look like: Uniserver/vhosts/tccom Uniserver/vhosts/sitea Uniserver/vhosts/siteb Cheers! Lyle
