Hi Danny If you are still looking for a solution I have just published something of interest check out these pages: http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/Ba...and_redirection http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/Mi...vers:_Server_1c http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/Mi...Server_1d_-_SSL http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/Mi..._SSL_Standalone The last one is a secure server; you can run this alongside Uniform Server All the best Ric

The mini-servers while driving over to the Wiki seem to have had an engine change. Now powered by Apache 2.2.9 one of the turbo chargers had to be replaced with PHP 5.2.6. Two of the minis hit wet weather and changed their tyres to Super SLics still came in last because Firefox and IE objected to their self-signed certificates however they were eventually allowed to pass. New pit stop! http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/Mi...s:_Introduction All the best Ric

Hi DannyH This page will be of interest http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/Ba...and_redirection Well when its finished. All the best Ric

I know Microsoft is said to take security seriously! Well this time I happen to agree, a single update KB951748 prevents you downloading any malicious software. If you are using ZoneAlarm the update kills your Internet access stone dead hence preventing malicious software downloads. Is this a professional way to handle security! I do take my hat off to the software team at Check Point within a day had released an update for all their products including ZoneAlarm Basic Firewall. That really is the professional way to conduct business. Check out this page if you need to update: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/pre...ccessIssue.html All the best Ric

I think this write-up may be of use: http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/St...l:_Single_Vhost Also take a look at this section may be worth reading: Paranoid - Protect each page All the best Ric

Apache's basic authentication is not very flexible. It allows protection of directories but not selective redirection. This page may be worth a read http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread84503.html You did not indicate any level of security, think about SSL, stunnel etc I think you are looking at a sessions solution and MySQL All the best Ric

You need to supply a path for the font. If using this : $font = 'arial.ttf'; copy the font to the folder where your script is located. Alternatively change the line to $font = 'C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\arial.ttf'; All the best Ric

Hi megan That back track was all to do with using Uniform Server as a component. Hence I needed to update the Combined_bug_fix page: http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/Bu...ombined_bug_fix Trouble was I got side tracked and added a little extra to this section these additions are called enhancements! Anyway it all comes together on this page: http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/Oi...ag_1:_CD_Part_6 Hence the delay All the best Ric

I deleted my last post answered the wrong question. Deleting .htaccess prevents running CGI scripts in www and its sub-folders. Any scripts in cgi-bin will run with the defaults you have shown. It would be interesting to see if the error log file provides a clue to the problem. Before running the servers open error.log located in \Uniform Server\udrive\usr\local\apache2\logs delete it’s content. Save and run the servers, access your script. Now check the log file for errors. What do you get? All the best Ric

Yep! Liked the post, adds a little extra detail, explanation practical and makes for quick testing, popped this into the bat-snippets: http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/Ba..._drive_letter_2 All the best Ric PS the Wiki is there for anyone to add his or her own material for the benefit of the Uniform Server community.

I missed the point you do not wish to run as a service but wish to run as a standard installation with no virtual drive. No problem (not sure about drive c) hence I will explain using drive H. Copy all the contents of folder udrive to drive H. Copy Stop.bat and Server_Start.bat to drive H Modify the above batch files as follows: Stop.bat:-- Server_Start.bat:---- That’s all give it a bash. All the best Ric

Hi megan thanks for the kind words, apologise for the delay in responding, but hey! That’s me, was going to publish something for you last-weekend failed because during my re-write had to back track. May be this weekend? Expect about eight pages! Well if you have seen my posts tonight! Your fault? All the best Ric

Well this one has been a slog with the updated w2c1.pl you will find it a breeze to run Uniform Server as a service. This is included in the combined fix take a look at the Wiki. http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/Bu...ombined_bug_fix Again thanks svens included your fix. All the best Ric

Well quick dirty fixes always come back to haunt. This is no exception I think the combined bug fix see Wiki will resolve this: http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/Bu..._config_inc_php All the best Ric

The only way to remove that Virtual drive is to install as a service as Ota pointed out. You can install Uniform Server 3.5-Apollo as a service to any drive or folder you like First read this page: http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/Bu...o:_Introduction Install the Combined bug fix it now includes some enhancements (I have delayed publishing because I have not fully tested however I am confident that’s the final changes hence published.) And this to install as a service: http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/Oi...-Apollo_Service Check out this section: All that means is you can change the drive and folder/s to what you want. All the best Ric

Wow! What piece of history, I very rarely fire up IE I was wondering do you still need to force IE to request a favicon. http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/Ad...ver#favicon.ico Well IE7 in this respect is compliant, yep and will fill the error log with those ico errors. Just make sure you have one in the root folder All the best Ric Oops sorry Olajide Open and Closed!

Sorry for the above ramble I meant to answer this: Taken from “start-uniserver.bat”: rem what the hell does this mean? i am unable to find it out IF errorlevel 2 goto :WTF : It’s a system error, a message will be sent to the screen hence original: if errorlevel 2 goto :PAUSE Gives you a chance to read it. Note: pskill.c source code in folder *\Uniform Server\udrive\docs\SRC Its redundant in your code usr\sbin\pskill.exe httpd.exe > nul If a system error is detected you will not see it because you have sent it to the black hole (nul) All the best Ric

First impressions: Well a 79M download is no fun 300M extracted; does not lend itself to multi copies that are easily movable. So what do I get for me money? One hell of a hack of Uniform Server, which I must confess, is dear to my heart (the hacking bit). I have always advocated if you do not like Uniform Server then change it. Functionality some of the links in apanel do not work not a serious issue since it’s alpha. I would have given MySQL a spin however I could not get PHPmyadmin to work. Overall it looks an excellent piece of work, as for a Linux structure I could not find an htdocs folder, ho well that’s nit picking. What is no mean feat is to get Apache 2.2.9 up and running took me several evening to achieve hence great job. Any hack tends to be a personal preference scattering Apache configs is one I dislike two at most is preferable. I have only one concern and that’s size, ok if you need full packages Uniform Server is a reasonable compromise. Then again that’s not perfect because individual requirements differ. You have one big advantage with your architecture it does not have to be backwards compatible with older OS’s or previous versions of Uniform Server. What your design shows is the resilience and adaptability of Uniforms Servers fundamental architecture, it’s this malleability I like; trust it will be persevered in Version 4. The above is not intended to be negative; I welcome new ideas and found this post most refreshing. The one thing missing in the posts! No mention of the end user, I jump in my car and drive from A to B all I want is reliability I am not concerned with how the engine is built. Likewise I install a package like Moodle, this has a steep learning curve my attention is focused on this and not what server its running on. The server is a tool and nothing more. All the best Ric

Error in hosts file: localhost:80 does not exist
Ric replied to sjmagain's topic in Uniform Server - Windows
Sorry for the delay! been looking at transferring UniCenter The page you are looking for is: http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/Ad...in_Virtual_Host Its not a problem, hence not logged in the error file. All the best Ric -
This line is very reassuring: Apache/2.0.59 (Win32) DAV/2 PHP/5.2.3 Server at 72.x.x.x.Port 80 It confirms your servers are working and accessible with that IP address. I think you may have a corrupt .htaccess file a quick check would be to move it to another folder (or delete it) and try accessing your server again. All the best Ric

The switch is a block statement; hence pop it in curly braces. The last two lines look wrong! Format takes the following form: expression ? true part : false part; Hence you would have something similar to this for your includes: ($i=="5")? include "mpg1.php": include "mpg2.php"; Working example you could try: Save to www as test.php <?php $i=2; switch ($i){ case 0: echo "i equals 0"; break; case 1: echo "i equals 1"; break; case 2: echo "i equals 2"; break; default: echo "i is not equal to 0, 1 or 2"; } ($i=="5")? include "mpg1.php": include "mpg2.php"; ?> Save to www as mpg1.php <? print "<br>"; print "This is the true part"; ?> Save to www as mpg2.php <? print "<br>"; print "This is the false part"; ?> Change $i=5; All the best Ric
