Andrew Sherman
Hey everyone! I wanted to share some tips and tricks I've picked up while using TinyTask to improve my workflow. For those who aren’t familiar, TinyTask is a lightweight automation tool that allows you to record and replay repetitive actions on your computer. If you're new to this, you can check out the official site to download tiny task—it’s completely free and super easy to use! Here are a few ways I’ve found to make the most out of it: 1. Start Small: Automate Basic Tasks If you’re just getting started, try using TinyTask to automate simple tasks like opening applications, navigating through folders, or copying and pasting text. For example, if you frequently open the same set of programs when you start working, you can record the process and play it back every morning. It saves time and helps you get into work mode faster. 2. Set Looping for Repeated Actions One of my favorite features is the looping option. If you have a task that needs to repeat over and over, like processing files or data entry, you can set TinyTask to loop the recorded action. Just record the sequence once, and then let it run on repeat! 3. Adjust Playback Speed TinyTask allows you to adjust the playback speed, which can be a lifesaver. For example, if you’re automating something that takes a while to load (like a web page), you can slow the playback down to avoid errors. On the flip side, if you need to speed through tasks that don’t require precision, cranking up the playback speed is an awesome time-saver. 4. Combine Multiple Tasks into One Macro Another trick I’ve used is combining several different actions into one macro. For example, if you have a process that involves opening a file, copying some text, and then pasting it into an email, you can record it all in one go. This way, with one click, everything happens automatically. 5. Use Hotkeys for Quick Access You can set custom hotkeys in TinyTask, which makes it really convenient to start and stop recordings or playback without needing to click anything. If you’re doing a lot of recording and testing, this is a must! 6. Save Your Macros for Future Use Once you’ve created a useful automation, save the macro as a .rec file. This way, you can load it up anytime you need to reuse it without having to record the process again. This has been great for tasks I do on a weekly or monthly basis. That's it for now! Hope these tips help you get more out of TinyTask. If you have any other tips, feel free to share them below!
