Basic access control via .htaccess and .htpasswd?

Featured Replies

My second area of confusion (for today): controlling access to Uniform Server admin.

I read lekhoi's message from back in May, but it was over my head.

I temporarily modified all the .htaccess files I could find in diskw, so that I could test php, cgi, etc.

Now I would like to repair that damage, so I and only I can administer my Uniform Server.

How do I create a .htpasswd file, where do I put it, and do I then have to reference that .htpasswd file from each .htaccess file?

Download a new copy of the server and look at the htaccess files. You can also search Google for some.

Here is a good one: http://usertools.plus.net/tutorials/id/5
