Apache.exe Application Error: The memory could not be "read"

I've been having the following problem when I try to activate the uniform server. If I try to activate it, I receive the following error:

 

Apache.exe application error

The instruction at "0x00a8351c" referenced memory at "0x010c01a7". The memory could not be "read".

 

The program used to work properly, but hasn't for quite some time. I am able to get around this a little bit by accessing the "alternative control" folder and clicking on "start_server.bat". Still even when I do this, I receive an error saying php5.dll cannot be found, although the server does seem to activate and I'm able to run programs on it.

 

I am running this on windows xp sp2. Any advice on how to get this running normal again?

As if you may try a fresh installation of a fresh download of the last bundle after you have checked and made sure your box is clean of file system fault and malware etc ;-)

 

Such kind of GPF errors are liable of any corruption of your executable files ...

If you're on XP, you should apply SP3 (and the 60+ additional fixes) to keep your box secure.

The type of error you're getting is not a problem specific to Apache or Uniform Server.
