pwsabm Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 I am not a programer, I am an advanced user. I am looking to build a server that will do the following:1) File Server for all the computers on my home network2) File server for my Digital media streamer device3) Host my home page.4) FTP site so I can access my file from the web. Does Uniform server fill these needs? Thank you. Pierre Quote
elyk Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 I know that it can fulfill 1, 3, and 4, I'm not certain about number three. Does it just need the digital media streamer device need files streamed to it, or does it retrieve them and stream them to others. Quote

How hard is it to install Uniform Server and what type of hardware does it require? Thank you for the quick response. Pierre Quote
olajideolaolorun Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 Its not hard and it only requires a PC running Windows. Give it a try and see for yourself Streaming Media might require additional software unless you plan to do it normally which is put the media in a web folder and programs like WMP and Winamp can stream of it like downloading... simardbrad Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 I don't host my files using any server on my pcs because everyone gets like 40kb/s downloads... Quote
olajideolaolorun Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 There are ways to limit that if you like... some programs can help you do it and you can also do it using PHP if you like... Quote Best Regards Olajide Olaolorun The Uniform Server Development Team
