What are the uses of Uniform Server

Featured Replies

:( I am not a programer, I am an advanced user.

I am looking to build a server that will do the following:

1) File Server for all the computers on my home network

2) File server for my Digital media streamer device

3) Host my home page.

4) FTP site so I can access my file from the web.

Does Uniform server fill these needs?

Thank you.

Pierre

I know that it can fulfill 1, 3, and 4, I'm not certain about number three. Does it just need the digital media streamer device need files streamed to it, or does it retrieve them and stream them to others.

The Media Streamer needs to find the server, Which I believe has to be seen as a file server or a network drive, then it needs permissions to access the files.

THa is to my knowledge how it works.

How hard is it to install Uniform Server and what type of hardware does it require?

Thank you for the quick response.

Pierre

Its not hard and it only requires a PC running Windows.

Give it a try and see for yourself :(

Streaming Media might require additional software unless you plan to do it normally which is put the media in a web folder and programs like WMP and Winamp can stream of it like downloading...

To install uniformserver, simply unzip the folder and click start.bat. Add all your files to the w:\www folder
