Really tough time getting server back online

I have been running US for several days now and it has been very good.

However, I have been struggling with one little issue and I'm not sure if it is a config issue or a quirk in the software.

Whenever, my DSL connection disconnects or recycles, I cannot access the server again unless I shut it down manually and restart it again. Even so. it seems to take a few tried until I can access the server at any level (loopback or through external DNS)

Heres my config:

x64 XP Pro

Dual core Opteron

4GB ram

PPPoE DSL connection

DynSite DNS updater

EasyDNS domain

ucUniTray

uniserver 3.5

My You have 1 hosts in your httpd.conf file:

mydomainname.com <(changed for privacy)

Check the Apache logs in folder *\Uniform Server\udrive\usr\local\apache2\logs to see if they shed any light on the problem.

Apache just sits there processing incoming data; if it gets upset will certainly log its displeasure.

After an interruption I have seen similar occurrences with XP home, it goes off and sulks for a very long time before it re-synchronises and returns to normal operation. Sometimes it sacrifices a few innocent bystanders, forcing you to do a restart masking the real problem.

You have not mentioned what firewall you use, these can unintentionally give you grief.

What I am trying to say there is not enough information to point you in the right direction. :D

All the best

Okay thanks for the tips. I flushed the logs and will keep tabs on them from this point on. I noticed the access.log was a bit large. Any way to adjust limits to those?

Okay, I have been fiddling with things and ran across the issue again today. The end result seems as though the server runs locally but will note route through the assigned domain, even though it does resolve to my IP

I can access the site via loopback(localhost) but not via www.mydomainname.com

I apologise for the delay thought I would run a few tests. Hence over the weekend I set up a similar system (DynDNS account with DynDNS updater) and left it running. This was on a test machine behind a wireless router the PC remained running however the router gets switched off when not in use (service provider will allocate a new IP address hence force a DynDNS update).

Checking my logs I found the server never crashed. During the domain IP address update propagation period the server was still accessible locally. What I found interesting depending on the time of day it can take between one to five minutes for the initial DNS to propagate. Five minutes is a long time when you keep refreshing a page wanting an instant update. A full DNS update can take much longer to propagate.

The bottom line I think you need to wait for a reasonable amount of time for your IP address to be updated and propagated do not expect instant results.

As for your log file:

Error in my_thread_global_end(): 1 threads didn't exit

There was a problem with PHP5 and MySQL in the past. Thought this was resolved with the new versions. Do you have another libmysql.dll other than the one used in UniServer 3.5-Apollo if so delete it?

This is the place to obtain updated libmysql.dll http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/php/ not sure if this is your problem.

System error 1060 has occurred.\r, referer:.......

This error occurs because you are trying to restart the servers as a service from apanel, however since you have not installed the servers to run as a service, you get the error 1060.

"The specified service does not exist as an installed service" the cause as above.

From this point three instances of Apache are started and seem to run with no problems. However only one Apache should be running; I have no explanation for this, not sure of the mechanism.

The post is not that helpful however I hope the info is of some use. :D
