Unable to connect to MySql after editing pw file

Featured Replies

I was connecting fine to my database using root as the password and user.

I edited the \home\admin\www\mysql_password file. Now I can not connect to my database, even if I try to change it back...

:D

As soon as you change the root username in the mysql_password file, that is the new password. So it has to be root/ and not root/root.

Make sure you do not chnage it elsewhere also... only in the mysql_password file.

Hope this helps..

It is also important to make sure your text editor does not add a Windows/DOS line terminator (0x0D0A) to the mysql_password file. It took me quite a while last night to figure this out the hard way.

phpMyAdmin is an excellent program and the Uniform Server is a great package.
