  1. It has been a while since i have been here. Uniform server is awsome. I formatted my computer and installed the new version of Uniform Server. I cannot access it from outside. I do not have a router! How do I set up my computer or uniform server to let me access my computer from another computer. I am running windows XP pro. This worked fine for me before. I am pretty sure I had to do something to my network connection or my internet connection options. If that is the case what settings should I have in there? I know i have the default settings for the firewall. I am a novice when it comes to setting up the server. I can access my computer from home using localhost. I deleted the htaccess from within the www folder and still cannot gain access. I am sure it is something very simple. I hate to be a bother. I searched the forum and could not find the answer. Even though I am a novice this software is so easy to use. The help is also great!
  2. Thank you very much. I will try that!
  3. My problem.... Number one is that I am very new at this! I've set up a database where users sign up for a membership. Once signed up they are allowed to create a page to post a listing or ad. Before the ad is posted I must aprove it. SO, once they post the ad I am suppose to receive an email. The emails do not work. What should I do? The advertising program I am using was free. I am asking them aswell, on how to get this to work. Any suggestions would be great! Here is the error... Warning: mail() [function.mail]: Failed to connect to mailserver at "localhost" port 25, verify your "SMTP" and "smtp_port" setting in php.ini or use ini_set() in W:\www\myDomain\include\misc.inc.php on line 435 Thank you people. Would phpMailer solve this problem?

Hello to all! This is a great product. I love this server Uniformserver. I am new to this and so far it is easy to use. My question? How do I go about securing my pages. I've used control panels on hosting companies sites. I could tell the server not to let someone into a certain file. By the way, I am very new at running a server. My goal is as follows... If you went to my site and went to the photo gallery, the url would be something like this: www.mysite.com/gallery/index.html Pretty straight forward! Now if you typed this: www.mysite.com/gallery/ Then you could see a list of other items that is in that directory. I've noticed this alot on different websites!! You pretty much get to look under their skirt I want to prevent this from happening. Can someone help me out? I run windows xp pro and I did not yet install Unitray or the other plug ins. I will be installing tonite. Maybe unitray will take care of this?? Great forum. The help is great!!
