Empty databases

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if I could delete the databases 'information_schema' and 'mysql' in the, as it seems to be, pre configured mysql database without any concsequences. I saw them in my phpmyadmin and I was curieus where the were for because they look empty?

Thanks, Kirk (from the Netherlands)

If you delete them, you might as well forget everything. You need those databases for MySQL to run. The mysql database belongs to MySQL itself, so without it, MySQL will definately not run! The information_schema database is a preinstalled database. You cannot find it locally anywhere as the pma and the mysql database. It is rooted in the program itself and not like others.....
