Latest Joomla with Uniform Server and Vist and W7

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I am new to Uniform Server and Joomla, have a little knowledge, but only enough to make me dangerous!

While trying to install Joomla, using Uniform Server, I keep getting the error: Could not connect to the database. Connector returned number: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL

I have tried a number of things, usually things that mean I need to reinstall Uniform Server, after a few attempts to do this stage of the install, I get the following message.

An error has occurred.:

Cookies do not appear to be enabled on your browser client. You will not be able to install the application with this feature disabled. Alternatively, there could also be a problem with the server's session.save_path. If this is the case, please consult your hosting provider if you don't know how to check or fix this yourself.

My cookies are enabled, I know this, and it occurs in both Firefox and IE. Can anyone shed some light on this for me. I am running two separate machines, one Vista, the other Windows 7, it happens on both. Both Uniform Server and Joomla are the latest downloads.

Thank, Jim

:) All good, I have worked out that for some reason 'localhost' doesn't work as the host name, and 127.0.0.1 needs to be used instead for some reason!

Yeah, when using Windows 7 you should use Carbo 6.0.X for best support.

Also, Windows Vista/7/2008 got support for IPv6 by default, this means localhost is considered an IPv6 address and is something totally different than 127.0.0.1.

(Unless you add localhost 127.0.0.1 to the hosts file).
