  1. I have the same problem. Clean install of Steel 9.0.0 RC5 on Window 7 Ultimate PC. Install went fine, first time I ran the UniTray it worked fine. I went in via right-click, selected "Install and Run Apache/MySQL as Services", that went fine. Unitray icon was briefly green, then back to red. Server works fine (see attached splashscreen). But, now when I go back into UniTray (after reboot for example), I get the same warnings about port 80 and 3306 being in use. It is UniServer that has them in use! :-) So, the install works, but the UniTray does not so much. Are there known issues with the Steel build that cause this? I tried Coral 8.7.3 but it does not install properly on Windows 7 Ultimate. Works fine on Windows 7 Professional. thanks, Joe
  2. FWIW, I installed 8.7.3 on my Windows 7 Professional laptop and it worked without a hitch and without editing the .vbs file. Anyone aware of differences between Win7 Pro and Ultimate? thx! Joe
  3. I'm having the same problem on a Windows 7 Ultimate PC that's fully updated/patched. I made the changes to the .vbs file as noted above. I still can't get any of the links in the UniController to work. Help? :-o thanks!

    phpmyadmin access denied

Actually, I have restricted all changes to the tools provided with Coral 8 (as you note above). It was the changing of the MySQL password to something other than "root/root" via the install prompts that seemed to not work correctly. Changing back to root/root, and THEN changing to root/<password> using Server Configuration > General > MySQL > Change Password seems to work fine. Something wrong with the execution via the initial nag prompts? In any event, it seems to be resolved now. I was familiar with the UniServer\Home\us_phpmyadmin .htaccess. Thanks for the tip on the us_splash page access control. The us_splash_garbled.jpg is what I see via INTRAnet (LAN) when I browse to the Coral 8 server WITHOUT changing the .htaccess settings for the us_splash path. Question: Is the splash page supposed to show the version of each component of UniServer? I thought it did, even earlier today, but now it's showing a simpler message "this is test page index.php from folder /www", etc. I have attached a screenshot. Is this the expected splash page, and I'm just remembering the one from Orion 7 (also attached)? Well, I've spent a lot of time in the online documentation at: http://wiki.uniformserver.com/index.php/Coral:_Introduction Is there a more detailed set of documentation? I'm a big fan of RTM, once I find it! See above for my attempt to indicate what I thought was happening with the garbled splash page from the Intranet. I probably misspoke myself :-) thanks! Joe
  5. It's not in the wiki run by the Uniform Server project. It's in THE wikipedia at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Uniform_Server Last updated: This page was last modified on 27 November 2011 at 20:06. I have no idea who put up this page on the wikipedia.org site. thx! Joe

    phpmyadmin access denied

Further data: In C:\UniServer\home\us_phpmyadmin I edited THAT .htaccess file to allow Intranet access for phpmyadmin. Worked fine from LAN connection, including proper rendering of the php. Weird. Splash page still rendering fine on localhost, not on LAN connection. I'm puzzled! thanks, Joe

    phpmyadmin access denied

To follow up, I just changed the password for user "root" back to the insecure default of "root" and now phpmyadmin launches just fine. Is there more to the password change than using the US controller option? Server still not "serving" php via intranet, only works on localhost. thx, Joe
  8. Just installed 8.0.0 on Windows XP SP3 Couple of problems, maybe PHP problems? 1. I cannot get phpmyadmin to launch. I get Error MySQL said: #1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) Connection for controluser as defined in your configuration failed. phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server. 2. When I browse to http://localhost I get the expected splash page. After changing the .htaccess file to permit intranet LAN access to the test "server", I get some of the content, but in a chucky text-ish presentation, almost as though the php engine is not serving content other than to local host. Thoughts on fixing these? I did not encounter these hiccups with 7.1.x UniServer. thanks! Joe
  9. Bob, Thanks for the guidance. To address your concern about security, this server was not slated for exposure to the Internet. It was intended for an internal development server on our LAN only. I was hoping to leverage our already-paid-for Win2000 license in lieu of springing for a Win2008 license. Oh well. :-) Who controls the Wikipedia page for Uniform Server? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Uniform_Server I got misled by the admittedly non-authoritative information there: "All versions of The Uniform Server are compatible with Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP/Vista/7." Also, in my poking around the Uniform Server documentation and website, I do not see any specific reference to the System Requirements for the underlying OS. Are you in a position to recommend that this detail be added to the site? Off to spend some $$$ on a newer license :-o thanks! Joe
  10. Trying to install either 7.1.15 or 8.0.0 on Windows 2000 Service. I have previously had great success with 7.1.x on Windows XP. Getting error message where the controller, server status check, etc. actions are trying to call getnameinfo or getaddrinfo in WS2_32.dll. And not succeeding. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/wi...2(v=VS.85).aspx http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/wi...0(v=vs.85).aspx Looking at the two links above, it seems that special provision must be made to call these functions under Windows 2000 Server/Professional. Is UniServer expected to run under Win2000? Help! thanks, Joe
  11. Just installed Coral 8.0.0 on a Windows 2000 Server. The control panel is attempting to call functions that don't seem to exist in DLLs: "The procedure entry point getnameinfo could not be located in the dynamic link library WS2_32.dll" MSDN seems to indicate support for this function, sorta. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/wi...2(v=VS.85).aspx Seems as though "special accommodation" needs to be made to call it under Win2000. My question - is Uniform Server supported on Windows 2000 (Professional or Server)? My previous V7 installations were on Windows XP. also problems with getaddrinfo function Installed logged in as administrator. Will not run as service either. Just tried 7.1.15 Orion version. Get similar results, and the "systray" icon does not show up. Help? :-) thanks! Joe
