  1. Hmm, that's interesting. Thanks for correcting me.
  2. It means that in php.ini the variable session.save_path is wrong. To fix this open up php.ini (located w:/usr/local/php) and find the line that says session.save_path you will see multiple of these, if they have a ; before them then ignore them. Find the one without a ; It should look like this: session.save_path = "/tmp" Change it to this: session.save_path = "1;/tmp" Restart the server and try the install again.
  3. Well, I was at school and we aren't technically supposed to be on any sort of bulletin board system, so I just quickly read the first post and wrote mine. Sorry about that =)
  4. Well, if you try to add the drop command like you would normally by editing privleges through phpMyAdmin you can't. To get around this little bug, start the server, start MySQL. Open phpMyAdmin, you should see a bar on the side with a drop down menu. Click on it and select the database mysql, scroll down until you see a table called user, then click the browse button. You will then see a list of all the users, click on edit next to root. You will then see a list of all the privleges available to that user, just change the value of Drop_priv to yes. You should now be able to use the drop command in MySQL.
  5. You shouldn't have to do anything, I am running Vista Ultimate and it works perfectly. Like olajideolaolorun said, check the windows firewall and make sure those ports are unblocked.
  6. oooh, I didn't know that was the error you guys were talking about, hehe, oops. Well I have been using the start and stop .bat files to try that and make sure it's not something with one of the other start methods. The access denied error is when I click on phpMyAdmin from the admin panel to try and access the database after changing the password says that I don't have access. The error says that something may be wrong with the config.inc.php When I say the error is random sometimes I will be unable to access phpMyAdmin yet other times I will be able to. Sorry about posting this, I didn't know that you already know about it. Good luck with the stuff you are working on now.
  7. Well, with the release of a new product someone is going to eventually find something wrond with it. There was another thread listing your first impressions, so I decided to make another thread about your problems. Post anything and everything! My first complaint is phpMyAdmin. If I go to the security console in the admin page and change the root password, then try going to phpMyAdmin it says I am unable to connect because there is a problem with the password. It says to check the config.inc.php I have actually hardcoded into that file what my password is but still no luck, I have played with various things yet nothing seems to work. The thing that really pisses me off is the fact that the access denied error is random! I will continue my investigations and edit this post should I find anything. I have started with the problems now for someone else to post a problem.
  8. Well I'm not sure about the solution on the UniCenter but are you using 3.4(the most recent)?
  9. Just downloaded 3.4 and I have to say this is a huge improvement! Especially the Admin Panel, everything is so neat and simple! The UniController works with no problems, with the comment about phpMyAdmin I'm not sure what you are complaining about, there is a little drop down menu that lets you choose the font size and at about 60% it looks fairly normal.
  10. Good news, it seems to be working. Good luck with the release of 3.4!
  11. Ya that sucks that IPB is no longer free, so I guess we should just use this. I'm pretty sure people have patched those security holes. I have seen forums where they have a little shoutbox that spans the width of the page and blends in quite nicely. Another site I know has a link on the top menubar of the IPB and you click it and it brings you to a page with a shoutbox. This may very well be a support forum, but it can still look good while doing its job!
  12. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the site still doesn't work, there is a runtime error when you click on one of the links. Here is the error: Server Error |404| File Not Found Wrong Page Description: An error occurred on the server. The file/folder cannot be found on the server, the Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings. Details: If you feel this is a mistake, then press the REFRESH button. If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly. <!-- Server.Config Configuration File --> Referer: http://www.uniformserver.com/ Address: Requested URI: /news/ Host: www.uniformserver.com User Agent: Removed contained content about my computer Redirect Status: 404
  13. I agree with the upgrade to 2.22, but doesn't that cost money? (I hope not) I agree with the shoutbox but only if you have to register, in my experience when shoutboxes don't need registration they get abused. I like the current skin, but maybe add a few extra so that users can choose.
  14. Just letting all of the developers know that the new site doesn't seem to work. When I click on a menu item the URL changes but the content does not. I don't know if this is an error in the programming or you don't have any content but something isn't working properly. I have testing it with Firefox, IE 6; I am running Windows 2000. It may just be the computer I am using (I'm at school) I will try it out at home to make sure.
  15. If you need help with the CSS go to http://w3schools.com and read their examples of CSS, it is great review and they have proper code that works in almost all browsers. You can also go to http://infohound.net/tidy/ which will clean up your HTML and CSS but only if the CSS is in the HTML file. Hope you get it working.
  16. So...um, what does it take to become a beta tester?
  17. Now that you have a static IP you have to start the server and allow people on the outside world to connect to it. By default Uniserver will prevent anyone from connecting to allow them go to the site http://center.uniformserver.com and follow their instructions. If you have a firewall you have to forward the port so other people can connect, again you can find instructions on http://center.uniformserver.com. Then all you need to do is buy a domain or use a free domain service. I think cPanel will work, I don't see why not but I suggest you try their trial lisence before you decide to buy it. (Do they have a unlimited free version?) Good luck with your server!
  18. Ya I have a bunch of pictures like that, but they are widescreen so in that picture I am missing a bit of the background.
  19. Mine wins! It's a basic Windows XP desktop with almost all of the desktop icons put into those two little things that say Games and General. On the desktop I have Uniextractor(Universal Extractor, no install needed) allowing me to pull stuff out of anything, Oblivion, and Oblivion save, the Uniserver zip and an updated admin panel.
