Wouldn't be great if default charset and connection collation for the MySQL is utf-8? Well, for me it's a must.

Ahem... Guess what my question here is about? biggrin.gif

So, how does one set everything in MySQL to default to UTF-8 input and output?

I mean, there are too &*%$ many places where I could drop in the changed character/collation stuff, but I'm sure there's an easier way to make a database server speak more than just English...

Thanks in advance!

Edited to add: I work with the currently latest 3.2a version of the Uniserver package

Hi,
we were solving the same thing in the thread http://forum.uniformserver.com/index.php?showtopic=270

...changing system from latin1 to cp1250.

We have succeeded at the last.

Try it wit your utf8!
