absolute beginner question

hi,

I know zero about anything to do with ampp, but was told the application I want to build would best be done on one, so I installed Uniform Server on my computer.

I'm stuck on page one of the php tutorial at http://www.freewebmasterhelp.com/tutorials/php. I've made the phpinfo.php file. then it says "upload it to your server in the normal way" and I don't know what that means. I read below in this forum "where to put my files" and discovered the W:www/ folder and pasted it into that, but when I pasted the file address plus the file name into the browser address window all I get is a blank screen and the word "Done" at the bottom.

A) can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here?

:D is there a Uniform Server for dummies out there somewhere I should be reading?

C) is this the right part of the forums here to post a question like this?

Thanks,

DP

ps I'm using windows 2000 if that matters

Hi

Take a look at this section on UniCenter

http://center.uniformserver.com/new_users/...sers_index.html

Page: Quick PHP is the one you are looking for

http://center.uniformserver.com/new_users_...sers_php_1.html

With your server running type http://localhost/phpinfo.php

That will run your php page

All the best

Ric

  • 1 month later...

I have just published a full update to the new user section. It now targets 3.5-Apollo in addition I have added a new section Quick Perl this includes both CGI and CLI.

The sections sole purpose is to get your first scripts up and running on Uniform Server have fun. :D
