I am using UniServer 3.2

I am having difficulties connecting my database. I keep getting this.

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

this is what looks like in CONFIG.PHP of phpBB.

<?php

$dbms = 'mysql';

// INFO CHANGED FOR PRIVACY

$dbhost = 'localhost';
$dbname = 'test';
$dbuser = '';
$dbpasswd = 'root';

$table_prefix = '';

define('PHPBB_INSTALLED', true);

?>

Is this right set up in CONFIG.PHP?

Yes running MySQL server.

Any idea how I can connect to MySQL database from phpBB via UniServer?

My good friend, you problem is that you did not enter the username.. I have fixed it below:

<?php

$dbms = 'mysql';

// INFO CHANGED FOR PRIVACY

$dbhost = 'localhost';
$dbname = 'test';
$dbuser = 'root'; ### RIGHT HERE
$dbpasswd = 'root';

$table_prefix = '';

define('PHPBB_INSTALLED', true);

?>

Use that :D

Hello,

I am having trouble connecting to my database. I am very inexperienced with mysql and uniform server, so I'm sure that it is something simple.

I am using the following code at the beginning of my page and I keep getting a message that says 'error connecting to database'. What should I do?

<?php

$dbconn = @mysql_connect('localhost', 'root', 'rootp');

if (!$dbconn)

{

die('Error connecting to DB!');

}

if (! @mysql_select_db('blog') )

{

die( '<p>Unable to locate the main ' .

'database at this time.</p>' );

}

$query = "SELECT * FROM `categories` WHERE 1";

$result = @mysql_query($query);

?>

hello!

Yesterday I installed Uniform Server 3.2a looking forward to install a 'wiki' and got some trouble now while installing the wiki.

Found out, that the problem is, that the MySQL-Server isn't reachable...

phpMyAdmin always says '#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)'

The 'config.inc.php' of MyAdmin looks like this:

<?php

/* $Id: config.inc.php,v 2.53 2005/06/07 16:44:39 lem9 Exp $ */

   error_reporting(E_ALL);

   @ini_set('display_errors', '1');

}

* Your phpMyAdmin url

*

* Complete the variable below with the full url ie

*    http://www.your_web.net/path_to_your_phpMyAdmin_directory/

*

* It must contain characters that are valid for a URL, and the path is

* case sensitive on some Web servers, for example Unix-based servers.

*

* In most cases you can leave this variable empty, as the correct value

* will be detected automatically. However, we recommend that you do

* test to see that the auto-detection code works in your system. A good

* test is to browse a table, then edit a row and save it.  There will be

* an error message if phpMyAdmin cannot auto-detect the correct value.

*

* If the auto-detection code does work properly, you can set to TRUE the

* $cfg['PmaAbsoluteUri_DisableWarning'] variable below.

I tried to change the PWD in the mysql_password, but it didn't work. So I hope, that you'll be able to help me. Maybe my problem is a very stupid one, like written above I use Uniform Server only 2 days....

Thank you for ur help,

A. Please refer from posting things like that. We have a Pastebin for that at http://www.uniformserver.com/pastebin/ The link is also at the top of this page.

B. Check you make sure that your MySQL is started. As kevinm said, some programs use MySQL like SAM, and i know that 3Ds Max's License Management Software does also... so check to make sure there is no other one running.

If you have a single installation of MySQL, you have to uninstall it. If there is a file called LIBMYSQL.DLL in the C:/Windows and C:/Windows/Syetm32 folder, delete it!

  • 4 weeks later...

Hello,

I'm new to Uniform Server, only installed it yesterday. After factoring my router into the equation i was able to get apache and php working ok, but i'm still having trouble with mysql. I made a testmysql.php file that contained the following:

<pre>

<h3>Press RELOAD to add a record to the MySQL database:</h3>

<?

//establish user connection

mysql_connect("routerip");

//open up database

mysql_create_db(test);

mysql_select_db(test);

//create table

mysql_query("CREATE TABLE newone(firstName VARCHAR(25), lastName VARCHAR(25))");

mysql_query ("INSERT INTO newone (firstName, lastName) VALUES ('John', 'Tester')");

//display the information

$result = mysql_query ("SELECT * FROM newone");

while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result))

{

print ("Added record: " . $row["firstName"]." ".$row["lastName"]."<br>\n");

}

//close user connection

mysql_close();

?>

</pre>

So i make sure that MySQL has been started and then i try accessing the testmysql.php file and i get the following error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_DNUMBER in D:\webserver\testmysql.php on line 5

Any suggestions?

Thanks

As i am seeing here, first we need to make sure you problem is different. Can you access phpMyAdmin? If you can, then the problem is with your script.

A. The database test is already created. :lol:

B. There is no test column in it. :D

So please check to make sure...

Next time, its better for you to start your own topic so we can help you better with your own problem. :)

thanks.
