kjemmo
Hi. I have set up all the files for the uniform server in a folder at Google Drive. Then I have made a local directory at: C:\websites\amlocalThe amlocal folder is a symbolic link to the Google Drive folder. It all works well and have some great advantages. All my local files are backed up in the cloud. I can access the same uniform server installation on more than one PC just by installing Google Drive and creating a symbolic link to the Google Drive folder with all the Uniform Server files. It works very well on the PC where I initially made the setup. But here is the issue. When I mirror the setup on a different PC things do not work as expected. I can run the the Uni Controller on both PCs and start Apache and MySQL. But on the second PC I get the following errorWhen I try to access localhost in my browser I get a blank page.Any idea why?Since the files are exactly the same on both machines I am unsure where to start. Even the local path (the symlink) are identical on both machines: PC 1: C:\websites\amlocalPC 2: C:\websites\amlocal All suggestions and feedback are appreciated. meows
29Lets see here, I have set up all the files for the uniform server in a folder at Google Drive So we have all our files on someone elses server.. and make a virtual link on our computer . at C:\websites\amlocalThe amlocal folder is a symbolic link to the Google Drive folder. and this is so awesome we just have to push it and make a second virtual directory on another computer. because I can access the same uniform server installation on more than one PC just by installing Google Drive and creating a symbolic link to the Google Drive folder with all the Uniform Server files. However it seems the honeymoon is coming to a quick end.. When I try to access localhost in my browser I get a blank page.Any idea why? WHY??Gosh why.. why would you trust youjr programming on anothers computer. Just another way to ........anyway, here is why.,,.Possible reasons.1, IP addresses2. HOST file3. NIC and router.4. To prevent users from spamming the world with thousands of their new shiny "Virtual Servers" they put in a one machine limit. One machine meaning the computer that uploaded the files first is sent a KEY and only the computer with that key can play VIRTUAL SERVER.However everyone in the world can access it's web pages.. kjemmo
Hi Meows. Thanks for the reply. Forgive me for beeing new at this. The uniform server is said to be portable. If it is limited to one machine (where it is initally installed) then how can it be portable in any way? Would I have to do a complete reinstall of the Uniform server if I got a new PC?
