I'm trying to set up US Orion 7.0.9 on Windows 7 (64 bit) and everything seems to be working fine. Checking the server status shows that both Apache and MySQL are running and using the task manager I can see that mysqld-opt.exe is running.

However, I can't connect to the MySQL from phpmyadmin. I just get the Access Denied page with the error:

#2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured)

Connection for controluser as defined in your configuration failed.

I haven't changed the password, so can't understand why access should be denied.

Any help would be much appreciated.
