  1. Hi, I'm running Windows 7 64bit. I couldn't get Orion 7.0.2 to work but 5.7.5-Nano seems to start fine. I can view a simple local website on my computer using localhost. However, I can't seem to start up phpMyAdmin. I get the Access Denied page with MySQL said: Documentation #2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured) Connection for controluser as defined in your configuration failed. I found somewhere about changing the phpmyadmin config file from 127.0.0.1 to localhost, but that didn't work. In the apache error log file it says [Tue May 10 22:35:17 2011] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: C:/UniServer/www/announce Any ideas where I should try next? Thanks
  2. Hi, A bit more info. I tried UniServer5_7_5 and after letting Avast know the file was OK, it seems to work OK. Checking the Notifications Area. Aestan Tray Menu - this is working OK UniTray1.exe - this closed itself down after I hover the mouse over it. After getting UniServer5_7_5 working, when I shut it down and I try Orion7.0.2, Orion doesn't even show up with the tray icon. Trying UniServer5_7_5 again, it starts up fine. Thanks for your work on Uniserver
  3. Hi, I'm running Windows 7 64bit. I'm trying to use Orion 7.0.2. I click start.exe, I get a message about the trayicon. I click OK and there is a tray icon with a 1 in it. When I hover the mouse over the icon, the icon disappears and I don't have uniserver running. Any ideas? Thanks
  4. Hi Ric, Thanks for that. Because I 'got through' to the ftp program, I thought the firewall was OK. Plus I did have to allow slimftp to through the firewall saying it required access. But I then checked the firewall logs 'comodo firewall', and found it was blocking access from the remote computer to port 4738? I disabled the firewall and it worked. I re-enabled the firewall, allowed remote source ip and it worked. Many thanks for your help Alan
  5. Hi, I'm running slimftp. When I log in via filezilla 3.0.3, it gets past username and password, until "Command: LIST Response: 150 Opening passive mode data connection for listing of "/". Response: 425 Can't open data connection. Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing " I've created the directory c:\ftproot <User "bob"> Password "abc123" # Mount / C:/ftproot Mount / w:/ Allow / All </user> I've also tried w:/ and c:\ftproot but filezilla can't seem to retrieve a directory listing. I've checked the logs but slimftp doesn't say anything about not being able to retrieve the directory. Any suggestions? Many thanks Alan
  6. Hi Ric, Just to follow up, I added "Win32DisableAcceptEx" to the end of the httpd.conf file and everything works fine I'm also running Comodo Antivirus CAV Comodo Personal Firewall CPF Skype / Tools / Options / Advanced / Connections / untick use port 80 & 443 msconfig is back to normal, and everything works fine Regards Alan
  7. Hi, Thanks for your suggestions. access.log was empty error.log has this [Tue Nov 06 22:08:06 2007] [notice] Apache/2.0.59 (Win32) DAV/2 PHP/5.2.3 configured -- resuming normal operations [Tue Nov 06 22:08:06 2007] [notice] Server built: Jul 27 2006 15:55:03 [Tue Nov 06 22:08:06 2007] [notice] Parent: Created child process 5244 [Tue Nov 06 22:08:06 2007] [notice] Child 5244: Child process is running [Tue Nov 06 22:08:06 2007] [notice] Child 5244: Acquired the start mutex. [Tue Nov 06 22:08:07 2007] [error] (OS 10038)An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket. : Child 5244: Encountered too many errors accepting client connections. Possible causes: dynamic address renewal, or incompatible VPN or firewall software. Try using the Win32DisableAcceptEx directive. No firewall running. No VPN running. I searched for "dynamic address renewal" and came across people having problems with antivirus software. I'm using comodo anitvirus - checked the website and found this http://forums.comodo.com/help_for_comodo_a...g31636#msg31636 "This is easy enough to fix: Put the Win32DisableAcceptEx directive in your httpd.conf This will force apache to use accept() instead of the non-standard, ms exclusive acceptEx()--which creates the conflict with CAV and others. The difference? MS rolled a lot of the preliminary connection activities into one step. This is good if you do many sessions at once, but most folks that are using Apache on Windows are not in production, so you see no difference. We have a large production web service (we run that on 64bit NSA Linux), but profiling the windows port (which we use for development) shows that we spend very little time (less than a fraction of 1%) in connection, compared to the rest. So it seems a good tradeoff for AV protection. I am not sure why one would be uncomfortable in moving away from a non-standard, MS only acceptEX() (it is not in WinSock spec) to an interface that is a standard...but that is for them to decide. Here are the references: MSDN: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-US/library/ms737524.aspx Apache: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/mod/mpm_winnt.html Good luck all..." So as you guys are the experts in userve, any problems with "Win32DisableAcceptEx" in httpd.conf? ... and where would be a good place to put it? Many thanks Alan
  8. Hi, I've just tried the tester and it comes back with The NTVDM has encountered an illegal instruction CS:0f6b IP:0260 OP:fe 2e f6 ad Choose 'Close' to terminate the application I have a similar problem to first poster and I've followed the steps. Version 3.5 After clicking server_start.bat, drive W: gets created, apache fires up, firefox goes to "file:///W:/home/admin/www/redirect.html" and tries to load up but gets stuck with the logo. Turned off skype. IIS not installed. Disabled firewall and antivirus MSconfig, disable other start up items Tried using uc_check but it didn't work on my PC Manually checked for php.ini and libmysql.dll in PATHS Did netstat and checked for 80, only process was 0.0.0.0:80 which turned out to be apache. Apache runs taking up 100% of cpu but firefox is unable to load http://localhost/apanel. Using taskinfo, it shows two apache process, one idle and one 100%. Any suggestions? Many thanks Alan
  9. Hi, I've spent the last 3 hours rebooting the machine, reinstalling uniform server, testing, retesting when I logged onto the forum and found this! I recently started using skype and it happened to be running when I was trying to start uniform server! Arggh! Many thanks Alan
  10. Hi, For anyone else stuck on this problem, I think I have my final solution. Yes sometimes I had to wait a while for the sql program to initialise and start running properly. But I found that from a fresh reboot, I could start mysql without a problem. But when I shut down the server and then restarted it, when I then tried to restart mysql by clicking the menu on the side, mysql did not restart. But if I manually click the runmysql.bat in the mysql directory, the mysql program started correctly and I could continue. Hope this helps someone. Took me a week to figure out this combination! Best regards Alan
  11. Hi, I think I found the real cause I was clicking phpmyadmin too quickly! Now, after clicking run mysql, if I wait until I see mysqld-opt.exe running in my task list, then I click phpmyadmin, everything is fine! Best regards Alan
  12. Hi, Found it I think. I didn't remove the desktop icons, when I renamed the directory to .old and somehow, the desktop shortcut tracked the name change so I was running the .old database. Alan
  13. Hi, While reinstalling uniform server, I renamed my original directory from /userve to /userve.old In mysql/data was what I thought my phpbb and zencart database as there were folders with those names in there. When I reinstall a fresh copy of uniform server to /userve, my old databases are not in userve/diskw/usr/local/mysql/data but when I use phpmyadmin, it 'seems' to access my old databases in /userve.old/diskw/usr/local/mysql/data/zencart Is this correct behaviour? Can I copy across my old database from userve.old/diskw/usr/local/mysql/data into the /userve/diskw/usr/local/mysql/data ? Or leave them alone Can I delete userve.old/mysql/data?? Thanks Alan
  14. Hi, I deleted my previous copy of uniform3.3. Renamed the existing folder. I rebooted the pc. Downloaded a new copy of uniform3_3.exe and extracted it. Clicked on server_start. On the start up webpage clicked on run mysql and then clicked on phpmyadmin and it worked. So all previous combinations of what I did, didn't get phpmyadmin working I'm now going to retrace my steps to downgrade mysql and copy across my old mysql database and see if I can get everything to work again. Many thanks for your help olajideolaolorun. Great piece of software by the way. Thanks Alan
  15. Didn't install anything apart from the main download. Do you mean plugins? If so no. Do I need to? Will it help? Just going out now. Will try your specific steps later. Thanks Alan
