  1. Thanks BobS - I've tried starting as administartor but ommited "change settings for all users" which seem fundamental. Anyway, this partially does the trick - it starts services so I no longer need to manually fire them up. It still can't stop them, but that less important (and I can always kill them by hand). But when I tried "Server Status" from tray menu, I got "Apache run status: not running" and "Apache install status: undefined!" even it's up and running (same for mysqld) and port status lists "undefined!" for all the entries. Anyway, I'd love to revert back to Mona, but it is not working on my setup at all. BobS - do you got any hint to make 4.5a running on Windows 7/64 bit? This is simply version I like most
  2. I am trying to narrow the culprit and I came to a_diagnostic folder. Runinng 5_Start_Services.bat fails around: for the first time and I see as follow: First line is in English, 2nd is in my lanugage (I translated it so your system's output may vary here) - I suspect 1st come from US' tool while 2nd from the OS' tool. Simuilar problems when trying to start Apache: Hope this helps.
  3. Seems Tray Controler (or whatever it is named is sort of useless on my setup (Windows 7, 64 bit). It starts, shows up in tray and in general works, but it can't start/install any service. I tried running it as Admin or with XP compatibility set but no difference spotted. So for now, I have to manually lurk into i.e. <path>\usr\local\mysql\bin and start mysqld-opt.exe (same for Apache: <path>\usr\local\apache2\bin\Apache.exe) and it seems to work, but that annoying. Nothing was in i.e. apache logs, but it definitely because no apache/mysql was even started (as on 1st start windows' firewall would pop up and that did not happened unless I fired them up by hand). Is it a known issue?
  4. Hi, Any hope for PHP 5.3.3 in US 4.5 serie? I know that is old one but I *really* love that particular edition for its compact form. I do not need much more that PHP/Mysql and 4.5 fits perfectly my needs, while 6.x serie is... well.. sorry... bloatware with far too much useless (for me) features and terrible tray controller. If any good soul out there could build 5.3.3 binaries for 4.5, I'd be more than happy. Thanks in advance
  5. Can I suggest US to distribute such batch script somewhere (ie in extras folder + accompanying readme to explain what these "legacy" stuff really mean). When US detect "space" in the path it shall report this as it does now but also point to that readme and script as possible workaround as it would be big timesaver for many people
  6. Version 4 is just unpack-to-any-folder and go. Version 5 is not really as it complains about spaces paths, and since all user files are kept under "Documents and settings"... ;( I know, I know, v4 uses virtual drive. I know I can put in to other folder w/o spaces but I want it to run on my Desktop and don't mind virtual drive. And that's it. Plus v4 simply works, so "don't fix it untill it's broken" rule applies
  7. Hi, Is there any hope to have version 4 of uniserver updated to feature PHP5? I still find serie 4 fitting my needs much better than version 5, hence my request. Thanks for good stuff anyway
  8. True, it uses virtual drive, but from my perspective I do not care what it uses Be it VD, be it smart scripts - whatever it utilises it just works and that's the right way. I do not use UniServer for other things as for development and it's portability is crutial for me. I do not need any of the fancy features 5.0 may containt - maybe I am just not the taget user for 5.0? No, I didn't. But if 5.0 would require any more trickery to work the same way 4.3 does than "click Start All" I do not like it. Which is a pity as UniServer is quite neat and I was more than happy with 4.3, aside it does not feature php 5.3. Frankly if anyone can give any quick guide on how to update php to 5.3 - I will shut up
  9. That's was my suspect too. Kudos to morons @ M$ to introduce "documents and settings"... Anyway - I did as you suggested and this time it worked. But unfortunately I am now getting back to US 4.3 - I know 5.0 is beta etc, so issues can happen but 4.3 works in any location w/o any tricks. And since I use US for my development and one of (very) major "pro" was complete portability, so I can simply drag US folder with me whenever I wanted, unpack whenever I wanted and keep working. I will wait for 5.0 to reach the same portability level Regards,
  10. Hi, Contrary to others' problems with stopping Uni Server I got problems to run it in the first place (4.3 works all the time as expected). Got the UniServer5_0_beta_3.exe. When I click "start.exe" I see: (aside from bit weird english there, I do have my task bar on the left side so "bottom right" is not correct assumption). Beside above dialog, nothing else happens (nor tray icon appears). I've tried alternative_control scripts: - start_2.exe made Visual Studio debugger starting which indicates start_2 just crashed - start_server.bat - problems too I see error message refering to "C:\Documents" but I do not intend to have such folder. Does it mean nano is no longer portable?
