  1. My issue for example is that I have <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName tc.com DocumentRoot C:/UniServer/www/tc.com/ </VirtualHost> but it ignores the tc.com and doing tc.com goes into www. If I have www/sitea www/siteb then the home pages are resolved to www for both sites so the home pages break. I am talking about joomla installs here but see the virtual host has the same issue. What is causing this ? thanks
  2. I use Uniform Server to test and develop joomla sites. localhost/sitea localhost/siteb/ etc within the joomla config though the host is given as just localhost for all the sites. if i set the host as lcoalhost/sitea then the database connection dies... this is what I could use some help to understand...so in a way I guess joomla is using the host value to connect to the db - but when i created the db it was created using phpmyadmin kind of out of the box... where do i make the changes...the site works apart from images specified like /images/test.jpeg as this should be here /sitea/images/test.jpg so I want the root of each site to be the sites root not localhost root... I hope this helps explain better
  3. bump..anyone - or at least let me know if uniserver worked out of the box for you and the link to mysql as well ? I don't want to have to hack the password. bump..anyone - or at least let me know if uniserver worked out of the box for you and the link to mysql as well ? I don't want to have to hack the password.
  4. Thanks for your advice, I tried that and it worked to find only occurances in the trash and other uniserver folders. please see image I am so desperate to work out what isnt working, I feel I need to try another server but I like this one, well when it worked. What if I copy over the mysql folders ?
  5. Well I fixed it using the steps above to know which password to modify. What I dont understand now is why it doesn't work out of the box, suggests that there is some mysql password that is saved outside of uniserver from some other prior installation. If anyone knows how I can check for this, but I thought that this would not be the case and that mysql is encapsulated in the package. Or could there be registry issues on passwords. For the issue of not being able to create a database (also I cant see the default databases !) I am still lost with google not able to help. so any ideas appreciated. I am again trying a new instal (but already did in my now mounting discovery of what is the issue.) ok from a new instal exactly the same issue, the defaults passwords are alll root:root but mysql seems to be set up from elsewhere with root and no password so where is this getting set outside of my UniServer folder ? This is the issue I seem to be facing and perhaps the reason why even if I edit the default password then its why I cannot create a database.
  6. Clean Install. when running phpMyAdmin I cannot create a database using the UI nor SQL etc. It does give me a green message that it was created, but there is none. Is there some file perms I can check etc ? Really cant find anything on google. Thanks - I have taken a few hours just to get this far since upgrading.
  7. After a couple of hours I found the files I needed to change, the config file uses php to look inside a text file a folder above. I was getting then an error which was that I needed to set the flag to allow no password to work. But I am seeing that I cannot now create a db in phpmyadmin. It gives me a green status message but no db is actually created. Will open a new thread for this. But for me the original issue is solved after a couple of hours however.
  8. All the password files I can find look to be root: which is correct why does phpmyadmin think I am using a password ?
  9. Ok so I just 'installed' the latest version and I find that clicking the link to phpmyadmin does nothing. I then went and looked around a bit not really knowing what im doing. And I find that the etc/phpmyadmin is empty what do i need to copy here if anything ? my old install has files in here but i would think im not doing this right... any help greatly appreciated thanks edit:ok i found that i cannot access due to issue by browsing http://localhost/apanel/phpMyAdmin/ #1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
  10. I get a window and the purple screen with the logo and a beep, and a brief cmd window then a blank browser with no source...? I tried downloading the latest version and same thing so its my system, but where to start ?? thanks for help im lost without it... also i dont ever get any 404 even if the localhost address doesnt exist in firefox I do get 404 with ie quiting skype fixes issue !

    cake php install

I was interested in trying out cake php framework. I cant get the basic install to work due to .htaccess files Here is the thread over at their end http://groups.google.com/group/cake-php/br...7f7bf72d1121a68 but I tried to edit the file and it doesnt work. Still FORBIDDEN error. I'm running vista. here is my .htaccess file <Directory "/www/"> # Possible values for the Options directive are "None", "All", # or any combination of: # Indexes Includes FollowSymLinks SymLinksifOwnerMatch ExecCGI MultiViews # # Note that "MultiViews" must be named *explicitly* --- "Options All" # doesn't give it to you. # # The Options directive is both complicated and important. Please see # http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/core.html#options # for more information. Options Indexes Includes FollowSymLinks # AllowOverride controls what directives may be placed in .htaccess files. # It can be "All", "None", or any combination of the keywords: # Options FileInfo AuthConfig Limit AllowOverride All Options FollowSymLinks # Controls who can get stuff from this server. Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> thanks for any help, as usual im halted before I get any work done frustrating for non php pros, who have to get everything right before one gets started.
  12. I have come across a problem which is a bit random and shows up onlt in mozilla running maybe in strict mode. http://devedge-temp.mozilla.org/viewsource...ect-mime-types/ I am getting the error in my mozzila error console which tells me the correct MIME type isnt set for css. I will try and find this on the server and set it up, meanwhile if you think im wrong or can help me then please reply. thanks I have just discovered that the line is set text/css css this is in the server usr/local/apache2/conf so why is this happening and why random. Well looks like not a uniform server issue. I might add this errror has been turning up while playing with mod rewrite in my site .htaccess so there mystery to solve in web development. Im sure if theyd been around shirlock would have been a web developer its far more challenging than any criminal mind. http://www.landed.at a travel forum
  13. Thanks, maybe this will go away in the next release ? I guess in the sense that I couldnt get to the admin panel or phpmyadmin, was why it wasnt working. I have left Globals on for now, but will try commenting that line out as suggested. Doing that now actually to save me finding this post later so far commenting that line out works.. thanks
  14. switching register globals to Off restarting the server stops uniform server working properly with the error Warning: gethostbyaddr() [function.gethostbyaddr]: Address is not in a.b.c.d form in W:\home\admin\www\includes\config.inc.php on line 18 it didnt seem to do it before when i changed it. I ideally want to mirror my server config, and this has it set to Off thanks
  15. Id like to know if its possible to change the www browsable localhost directory path to something closer to the root, im going to organise my work inside the www directory so i dont have to copy across for testing the scripts etc I will have photoshop work and flash work etc and i would like that in the www folder to keep things in one place. I want to move it on my hard disk for backing up as I want to store graphics and other related work files in a drive closer to c:/ that is cleaner and will save a lot of uneccessary clicks. Thanks mojito
